Vineheart01 6,403 Posted April 3, 2017 i think fast travel is one handicap i wouldnt do. Pretty much all that does is double or even triple the play time for no real benefit. Cant even say it gives horses some value since its actually faster to climb/fly than use a horse with those windy pathways. im waiting awhile before i go for run 2. Still debating if i want to try and 100% the game though....not exactly enthused on the idea of finding 900 korok seeds lol (plus apparently im missing quite a few shrines, as i got 18 hearts and 5 stamina vessels). Jo Jo 4,808 Posted April 3, 2017 120 shrines in total. If you fully max out stamina (two extra wheels) then you can get up to 27 hearts with all the divine beasts done. If you are OCD and want 30 hearts (max) you'll have to sacrifice some stamina. I think stamina is probably more important. You can always eat meals for the extra hearts. No way I'm going to try and get all 900 Koroks. At most I will do is all side quests and shrines. I'm about 50 hours in and I only have about 90 Koroks done. Rakaydos 4,236 Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) Still going on my no-fast-travel run. Had to wear the zora shirt for story reasons, but nailed Ruta in only 2 passes. zora blessing gotten. Finally figured out the whole ceremonial tridant riddle, got that shrine, resumed heading north toward Robbie. Jumping off mountian, Found mounted moblins, new horse get. Another shrine or two, got to robbie, lit the furnace on horseback, snuck up behind the guardian and destroyed a sword killing it, and bought 3 ancient arrows, for a total of 7. Fang and bone is too far off the beaten path, so I let the horse carry me toward Akkadia tower as I watch the scenery go by. This is what makes this run so much better without fast travel- the horse knows where to go. Boarded Horse2 at the foothill stables, went up death mountian with 2 fireproof elixars. Was collecting Fireproof lizards to trade for the fireproof outfit, but never saw the guy I was supposed to trade for it, but I managed to make it up to goron city. Deciding to stick to ninja-outfint-run (we shall not speak of the zora breastplate that one time) I turned the fireproof lizards into plenty of elixars. However... only one of them was a "critical cook" with fireproof 2, which was a little awkward when I needed to spend it rescuing Goron Champ's kid. I picked up another shrine while I was out there, which made coming back...interesting. Back in goron city, I used the mini-goddess statue to get a few more hearts, and cooked up more fireproof lizards, but again, only 1 fireproof 2. That was enough to get in INTO the divine beast, but the boss battle is on the outside- I had to beat Fireblight while on Fire. This took more than a few tries. With the hint at the akkadia tower stable that the sacred sword was just the other side of death mountian, I took a "shortcut" off the side, near a shrine I missed on the way up. Found a forest, found a stable (and horse2) found a tower, fold Lost Woods. Made it to the Deku tree... with 10 hearts, 1 stamina, and the nearest shrine makes 4 spirit orbs. No sword for me. (also, lost woods ate horse2) That's where I'm at. Is there a goddess statue closer than Rito village? Edit: found the goddess statue in kokri village. Jo Jo 4,808 Posted April 5, 2017 Fireblight ganon is super easy and in general the divine beast bosses are kind of a let down. But fighting him without the fire suit would be pretty challenging. I had a Edge of Duality sword and a max attack bonus going on. I beat him in about a minute. A Lynel fight is a lot tougher than any blights.
Rakaydos 4,236 Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) Yea, I ended up needing a near-perfect knockdown chain. When you've got 8 hearts, your best weapon is a Knights Claymore, and your only attack boost is beetle's 1-sword elixar, AND you're on fire, he's just a bit harder than usual. Fortunately I had plenty of ice arrows. Edited April 5, 2017 by Rakaydos
Jo Jo 4,808 Posted April 6, 2017 Its a bit disappointing when you get the Master Sword. When I got it I had 6 or so weapons that had more attack power than it. Its nice that it never truly breaks on you though I guess.
Vineheart01 6,403 Posted April 6, 2017 When in a shrine or the castle the Mastersword jumps to 60 and far as i know is unbreakable when its in that state. They had to find a way to not make the Mastersword completely invalidate the weapon system after all.
Sithborg 11,644 Posted April 6, 2017 Also power ups against Guardians. 1 Timathius reacted to this
Vineheart01 6,403 Posted April 6, 2017 Never noticed that. Nor did i ever try to fight a guardian with a weapon. Walking ones just keep running away, flying ones are out of reach, immobile ones like to panic-spam the attack for some reason if you hit them. I had one in the castle actually shoot its laser at me like 20+ times in a row in rapid succession (i never got up before getting zapped again). It also never did any damage after the initial shot though which i found really really bizarre.
Timathius 2,152 Posted April 6, 2017 Just beat Ganon and broke 100 shrines. Love this game. I am probably not going to do another play through until I 100% and I am really trying to avoid using online maps or anything. I did use IGN for the memory in the castle because that just looked like a massive time waste otherwise.
Sithborg 11,644 Posted April 6, 2017 After I beat it the first time, I will likely wait to play it again until I get Wolf Link a bit leveled up from Twilight Princess.
Vineheart01 6,403 Posted April 6, 2017 The only thing i ever looked up was where that dang picture in a forest was located. I wasted easily 20hrs trying to find that stupid spot. I havnt 100% it though, probably got around 90 shrines. Still debating if i wanna do that, i never 100% these kinds of games because the last like 5% is always uber douchy (for the longest time i never 100% Super Metroid because of that STUPID MISSILE TANK just outside of the Hyperboots room)

Rakaydos 4,236 Posted April 6, 2017 Got master sword and rito Beast, and 12 ancient arrows on my no-fast-travel run. Didnt have enough fireflies to level 2 all my ninja gear, which was unfortunate. Did get lucky with the red dragon passsing by at eye level, so I've got the Shrine of Power. Not the best routing, but I'm making it work. Anyone know how to get into those Hebra Mountians shrines, with the doors at the bottom of the snowy slopes? All my videogame instincts say roll a rock/snowball into them, but I havnt been able to get them to work. 1 Timathius reacted to this

Jo Jo 4,808 Posted April 6, 2017 To true 100% you need to get all 900 Koroks... **** THAT. The reward for that is pretty funny though. 1 Timathius reacted to this
Jo Jo 4,808 Posted April 20, 2017 (edited) Some one has done it: http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/04/19/zelda-breath-of-the-wild-100-percent-completed-in-just-50-hours-in-new-speedrun Both massively impressive and utterly pointless/stupid. Its like jogging through a museum. I think I'm about around 110 hours in and haven't even ventured to the castle. Still trying to get all shrines and get most of the armor upgraded. Hell I don't even have the desert divine beast yet. Edited April 20, 2017 by Jo Jo

Sithborg 11,644 Posted April 21, 2017 Killed my first Guardian!!! There is something just so... cathartic about chopping their legs off.
Jo Jo 4,808 Posted April 21, 2017 They are very satisfying to kill. I love just dumping an ancient arrow into one. "Not today." I remember when the Guardian Scouts in the Major Test of Strength shrines used to give me fits. Now I can power through one in short order.
