Action Trigger question

Recommended Posts

Hello!

Sorry, if this was asked before. We played our first two games last weekend and stumbled upon the ? (action trigger) action. How exactly does it work.

1. Do I activate the action with an action during my turn, and I need a second action to take the benefit from it?

Or

2. I use an action to trigger the action and can imediatly use what is written in bold without using another action.

In our first game we played it like in version 1. but found it very costly. We discust the matter and changed to version 2. in our second game.

Anyway, for future game plays we want to be sure.

Thanks for any help

Option 2 is correct. You just use one action to trigger the "arrow" and then use whatever is behind it. One reason to write for example "Fight" in bold behind the arrow is that this action is considered a "fight" action and therefore does not provoke attacks of opportunity. If that wasn't written, you would use your gun and still get an attack of opportunity.

It can seem like a strange way of doing it compared to other games but I think the reasoning is that there are less global / stacking buffs.  They can make a weapon card like Switch Blade and not worry about another 1 handed weapon stacking extra attack stat into the skill check, allowing a smoother balance to the game, and more narrative feel (each attack is different depending on the weapon you use / you don't use generic "attack" action much at all)
