Rebel Y-wing title idea

Since there has been a drought of news lately I was thinking about what the almost inevitable Rebel Veterans pack could do for the old Y-Wing. So here is my thought for a title.

 

Standard Alliance Loadout. 3 or 4 points. Y-wing only. Rebel only

You must equip the "Ion Cannon Turret" and 2 "Proton Torpedoes" upgrades without paying the squad cost.

When attacking with a secondary weapon against a ship inside your firing arc you may add one focus result to your roll.

 

You get 11 points of secondary weapons for 3 or 4 points and they hit a little harder in arc. You can still choose what pilot/droid/mod you want so it doesn't take away all customization options. Y- wings would get a scary alpha strike but only one can get an EPT so they wouldn't become U-boats. Bundle the title with a few new pilots and Rebel Y's get new life as something other than a TLT caddy.

I don't hate this idea, but I think that it is to cheap. Maybe a small discount is appropriate since you're having to buy predetermined upgrades, but not 6+ points worth.(flechette torps-2pts + extra Munitions-2pts + ion cannon turret - 5pts = 9 points for a 3 point title) Maybe make the title 5 or 6 points and it would be fair. Or make it a predetermined set of Torps for a bigger discount. Maybe ion Torps and proton Torps and ion cannon turret (to represent the scarriff and death Star attack Loadout respectively) all for maybe 6 or so points. Call it Scarriff veterans or some such.

IMHO the only rebel Y-wings titles I want to see is Gold Leader, Gold 2 and Gold 5.

They really just need a Death Star or Scarriff expansion... Give the movie fighters some love (and give them a mechanic to reduce tokens and drop bonus dice on their targets... dead horse, I know).

It is a predetermined set. Read it again. It is an ion turret and two proton torps. I have never seen a Y-wing played with the standard loud out so it would have to be a pretty big discount to make it viable. Otherwise why not just take the more efficient TLT?

No problem. I also thought it might be to cheap at first then I started thinking about TLT. If the cost of a Gold plus this is 24 or over then it would almost never be used. I think 4 points is probably the sweet spot now because that keeps them cheaper than a TLT Y but you can't spam more than 4. The torps are really something I would like to see Y-wings use but their lack of maneuverability makes paying for in arc weapons a waste unless you build a list around an alpha strike.

Battle of Yavin would do nicely. Some unique titles for X-wings and Y-wings, and a lot of unique titles for Imperial TIE Fighters. Also you could throw in some Leader titles (Red Leader, Gold Leader, Black Leader) to give them some IG-2000 like synergy like sharing all title abilities or something.

Which is one reason I think this game needs "self guided" missiles/torps that can ignore arc for a range penalty.

I would rather see bonuses for less maneuverable ships so they hit harder when you do manage to line up that shot. That's why I added the "add a focus result" bit to the title
