I would rate those backwards from you. And book 5 as the best in the series.

I'm interested but loath to take on another series of books.

What ever happened to a beginning middle and an end fitting into 300 pages or so?

Stranger Things, anyone?

EDIT: Oh, and Frasier of you want a genuinely funny sitcom with heart.

I watched Stranger Things recently and I'm not sure why it's got such rave reviews. The nostalgia kick is nice but a bit 'in your face' and the mystery is compelling but the whole thing feels like it could have been done in 120 minute movie to me.

Bt no means the worst show I've ever seen, but I doubt I'll remember it too much.

It was witty and the characters were genuinely likeable to me. Those kids were like the friends I wished I had when I was that age.

Each book works that way. But it's a story of mankind becoming something else. Takes a bit.

Oh, and down to 2 more episodes for the OA.  Man, the 6th one ended at a crappy place to end!  Total cliff hanger.

STARTED at a crappy place too...

You dat bored... whew, I rather take out my ships and just look at 'em and talk nice to 'em rather than watch dat-craps!

Not a cliffhanger, but I remember when my wife and I were watching Band of Brothers on DVD's and we were going to watch one more episode, and it was the one where they found the concentration camp at the end... We decided we needed to watch another because we couldn't go to bed after that.

The Mrs and I really enjoy the show.  Sorry you didn't like it.

It's all good. I have violent funny taste anyhow. People being scared of a gaddam smart phone is just ridiculous to me.

People scared of a smart phone?  I think you are thinking of that other one with the kid who gets the smart phone in his brain?  That's not the one we are talking about.  It's....really hard to explain and I don't want to give anything away.  The girl who went missing shows up again years later.

I was alluding to the modern horror(able) stuff in general... YIPES!

New Rings, dat Black Mirror crap, and several others.

Finished The OA last night with the Mrs.  We both REALLY liked it!  Trying to find out about it before I saw it, I didn't think it sounded interesting.  After the first episode, we were intrigued.  After the second, we were hooked.  Almost impossible to explain the plot without it sounded terrible, but so good to watch.  They did say that they are going to do Season 2.

Oh, isn't Iron Fist coming out?  Might make the Mrs try that.

Legion started, didn't it?  We should try that.  Anyone watch it?

Walking Dead is back and I'm digging it.

Black Mirror isn't a horror show, it's basically near future sci-fi with a lot of cautionary tales about the dangers of over-reliance on technology such as smart phones etc. Some are better than others but they're all quite different to each other and well worth a watch.

Doesnt stop some of them being horrific in the true sense of the word though; for example the ending of the Christmas special is probably the most horrific thing I could ever imagine and gets worse the more you think about it!

For anyone else out there looking, the Lethal Weapon tv show is not bad at all.  Yes, it's major network TV action-comedy.  It's not as amazing as many cable only shows.  It's not cutting edge and all that.  Still, it's a solid show that I find to be entertaining.  I wasn't sure and figured it would suck, but it doesn't.  I find it enjoyable.

Yes, it is very good. The first episode is a trip, with the second and third getting a bit easier to keep track of. It is worth a watch for the cinematography alone. It is beautifully shot with an amazing aesthetic.

So....we tried watching Legion.  The wife hated it.  The whole opening montage and weirdness of it all just annoyed her.  That's a "just me" show to watch.

Has Castle, Monk and Dirk Gentley's Holistic Detective Agency already been mentioned.

I think Monk has, but the Mrs doesn't like it.  She's just annoyed by him.

Castle is something brought up by a friend or two before.  We just haven't tried it.

Never heard of Dirk Gentley.  I'll have to take a look.

I will say that our tv got a big crack in it somehow and doesn't work.  It's also under warranty.  It died on Sunday and just this afternoon someone is to come and take a look at it.  I'm sure they will declare it dead and we will have to see how long it will take to repair....or will we get a replacement.   Not sure, but we haven't been able to watch anything on cable since Sunday.  We haven't caught up with the Walking Dead or anything.  It's been pure Netflix.  Last night it was Unbreakable Kimmey <whatever surname>.  It's a funny show.
