Armada Shipyards

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what happened to these guys? The site is still up, but hasn't been updated in an age. At least not that I've noticed. Nor have I noticed the group active on the forums.

I can think of plenty of reasons they might have stopped or slowed work. I'm just curious to know if they are still working, stalled out, or if they have completely stopped for whatever reason.

and

@GileadPalleon has been around recently, too.

 - Basically, DA got the big first batch out and done, and then he went on Holidays.  Those holidays were extended, from what I can tell, but he's back around.

The first batch, are basically waiting on a lot of responses as to how they worked out...

Once they have those responses, they can look foward.

The Three Waves of Releases we got in somewhat rapid Fire also knocked things back, as it invalidated and validadted a lot.

I'm around, but the project is basically dead in the water for various personal reasons.

Also, as Dras correctly pointed out, waves 3-5 already covered much of what we did - moreover,  it gave players a much needed variety of ships, squadrons and ugprades, so players don't really need to turn to custom stuff out of boredom.

Having said that, if I had the time I'd love to go back and revise our content to be compliant with the new stuff. Perhaps focus on new unique cards (titles, officers, squadrons). And above all I'd love to finish and release the Clone Wars set. But I just don't have the time.

"Personal Reasons" was top on my list of likely explanations. It would be so nice if the rest of the world would lay off, and let us play with our little plastic ships.

I agree that a lot of what you did got knocked aside by the new waves, but I took a close look at your interdictor vs the official one, and I don't have to squint very hard to make it look like a deliberate evolution of design from the smaller to the larger. So well done you, at least. That was my favorite ship anyway.

And I've got the Assault Gunboats. I don't think anyone will ever let me play them, but I know in my heart that I've got them.

Thanks for the good work.

To be completely honest, the only reason I had so much free time in the first place is that my marriage was in shambles and my professional development had stagnated. Now that both problems are fixed, virtual cardstock for little plastic ships are much lower on my priority list. So as much fun as Shipyards was, I hope I never lose the stuff in my life that is even better!

I do have to say I'm rather proud of how a few things turned out, particularly the Immobilizer (you can pretty much use it as-is, simply replacing the experimental retrofit icons) and the Gozanti Detachment (which is remarkably close to the flotilla, right down to the Scatter token). I also like how the Arquitens uses the exact same reverse-VSD arc layout I proposed. And how my Phoenix Home title essentially mirrors Entrapment Formation. But other guesses were... not so good ;)

I was so looking forward to the Clone wars. maybe it is time for some of us to pick up where you have left off.

By all means!

And I can still take part in the design process. I just don't have the insane amounts of time required to do the high-quality graphics work. Or the playtesting.

I'm not sure it's fair to call your stuff "high-quality graphics work." We need stronger words. I've had people who, even when told that one was aftermarket, couldn't figure out which was official, and which was custom make.
