Zorprime 122 Posted January 19, 2017 (edited) Space Gun Farlander!!!! Jan Ors and Airen Cracken have come to the aid of Keyan as he takes the helm of the mighty Space Gun known as a B-wing. This mighty Space Gun comes in two Variants. Space Gun 7D & Space Gun 6D, Jan Ors utilizes her special Hawk to boost the damage power of the amazing B-wing or even Airen Z-95 if Space Gun is out of range. Airen flies close support to Space Gun Farlander to add action economy in Arc Dodging, even potentially pulling Keyan off a Bump, out of his opponents firing arc into range 1 of the Amazing Space Gun Farlander's Main GUN!!! The 7 die capable range one! This build is meant to be fun, somewhat competitive without being a Worlds or Regionals level list. This list really reminded me of 1980's Japanese Anime, A 3 person fighting team centered around a ship with one super powerful main gun. You can just imagine a half hour of buildup about whether Keyan will fire the main gun and in the last two minutes of the episode it unleashes unholy main gunnish damage upon their foes, some light cheering from allied bystanders, then credits roll over a freeze frame with closing yodelling ballad that only seems to fit Japanese Anime. Kreen 434 Posted January 19, 2017 "Oh no senpai, the evil IMPERIAL ARMADA OF SPACE VILLAINY is launching an attack on the GALACTIC HOME CLUSTER WORLDSHIP! You need to fire the Big Ship Gun Keyan!" "But...they're too close! If I fire the Big Ship Gun now, it may hit the Home Cluster Worldship!" "Keyan, listen to me! You need to take the Big Ship Gun Fire Pattern Shot! Our cannons just aren't strong enough!" It wouldn't an 80's anime without a really awkward sub that doesn't at all convey the message. 5 StriderZessei, 4fox100, Zura and 2 others reacted to this
Kreen 434 Posted January 20, 2017 In seriousness though, I think that you're not going to be able to trigger Opportunist very often. People are going to save their tokens for Keyan's big attack, which, while it does mean that the others might push some damage through, and will survive longer, reduces the viability of the list as a whole. It think that other issue is that Airen and Jan aren't really that big of threats on their own. If you can deal with those though, then I think that it's just fine. wurms 5,313 Posted January 20, 2017 Keyan will maybe get two chances to attack before being wiped out, depending on your opponents list and ships PS. If you are going to fly Farlander these days, it's pretty much required to take Biggs as well.Keyan Farlander (29)Rage (1)Collision Detector (0)Heavy Laser Cannon (7)Inspiring Recruit (1)B-Wing/E2 (1)Jan Ors (25)Predator (3)Twin Laser Turret (6)Nien Nunb (1)Biggs Darklighter (25)R4-D6 (1)Integrated Astromech (0)Total: 100View in Yet Another Squad Builder 1 Zorprime reacted to this
BlueMusketeer28 527 Posted January 20, 2017 A true this point let's go 80s anime fighter team as best we can, only what if we do something else, let's give him quirky friends. I would love to keep Jan, but what about Biggs and Wes? It's similar to Wes, Corran, Biggs in mindset, which was fairly successful even with U-Boats. Keyan Farlander: Opprotunist, FCS Wes: R3-A2, VI, IA Biggs: R4-D6, IA Now I know that this drops Finn and Jan, but it also means you can hit with Opprotunist on almost every shot, and can stress your foes to make life unpleasant. If you are playing just for fun though, fly the pilots you like. Also any 2 pt droid works on Wes, I just like the stress bot. 1 Zorprime reacted to this
Parakitor 5,654 Posted January 20, 2017 Zorprime, this kind of Keyan went through and wrecked a bunch of squads in our doubles event we had last Saturday. I approve. The opponent also had Opportunist Wes, which I thought was dumb, but you'd be surprised how many times he got that to go off. To be fair, there was a special rule that allowed teammates to run different factions, so his teammate had Palob with Opportunist and Blaster Turret. Assajj Ventress topped it off. What a brutal squad that was! 1 Zorprime reacted to this

I used to fly this a lot : Wes + IA + R5P9 + Draw their Fire Keyan + /E2 + Opportunist + FCS + Jan Ors Biggs + IA + R2-D2 Use Jan to get Biggs an evade, and Draw their Fire to mitigate damage (then get it back from R3-P9, any way Wes is there to strip focuses, not do damage). IMO, if you get to use it twice, R2D2 is worth its cost on Biggs, which was the case back a few waves, but I'm not sure anymore nowadays. 1 Zorprime reacted to this
Giledhil 1,365 Posted January 20, 2017 Opportunist Wes, which I thought was dumb Yep it is. Wes wants to fire at tokened targets, Opprotunist wants the opposite. Remember Wes' ability occurs AFTER the attack.
Zorprime 122 Posted January 21, 2017 (edited) So far I am 2-0 with this list, I fought a trio of X-wings & Ryad,Vessery, Pure Sabacc lists to good effect. Opportunist procs a lot more often than people seem to think it will. I was able to wipe out Ryad in first combat round without Opportunist (TLTs, Airen plink & Keyan 6 dice.) Although she was nice enough to plop on a rock with only an evade token. Invariably someone bumps or gets scared of TLT shots and spends there tokens or ends up stressed. The first few turns action economy is good so you should end up with focus & TL on Keyan. I do need more games with it but will stick with these ships and with the high dice roll bid. I do suspect it will show flaws in play soon. I might swap out Squad Leader with Wingman on Airen, it doesn't require an action. This will allow for me to K turn the B-wing and still qualify for all bonuses and rip a stress off in case asaj or stresshog has hit me. As far as trading out Jan & Finn It's just not "Space Gun Farlander" if you're only throwing 3-4 dice!!! I can't write two episodes of material building up to Keyan doing a 4 die attack, that Whisper or Lothal does on a regular basis! And I'm tired of Ryad laughing at me 4 turns later! It is possible there may be more competitive build but "Supasu Gun Fualaanda" will be built around at a minimum of a 6+ die potential. Another note is Jan Ors performs surprisingly well, I use her in another list to great effect. She won't last real long if focused but her 2 agility and hanging out in range 2-3 behind asteroids gives her durability. If my opponent goes full force after her I will be positioned well for Space Gun Farlander to wreck them for their dive tactics. Jans ability has a range 3 which makes it much nicer than other handshakes. I appreciate everyone's comments. I'll update when I have more games in with Space Gun Farlander. "What will become of Keyan and his rag tag band of wing-mates in this desperate struggle for table time.... Will Keyan really see the action he was promised or will more proven lists dominate the table. Tune in next time for the continuing adventures of Robotech.... I mean SPACE GUN FARLANDER!!! roll robotech ending music (Ulpio Minucci)! Keyan Farlander voiced by Steve Blum. Zorprime 122 Posted February 23, 2017 I saw a Space Gun Farlander style list at Vancouver Regionals. Airen Cracken + Concussion Missiles + Crack Shot + Guidance ChipsKeyan Farlander + Advanced Sensors + Heavy Laser Cannon + OpportunistWes Janson + Plasma Torpedoes + Guidance Chips + Crack Shot This list took 12th place overall on first day. I was pretty stoked to see such success out of a non-Nera B-wing. 2 BleakSquadron and Kreen reacted to this
