Warden cross specing

Recommended Posts

Anyone got any less obvious cross specs for a warden. To give examples of obvious first

Enforcer and aggresor, - both focus on brawl and intimidation and have easily stackable ranked talents.

Now onto a less obvious synergy

Warden and warleader (other than the fact they are both guardian) - on the face of it this appears to be at odds with the warden, it is a ranged specialisation, however the warden has strength in causing strain damage, add in the warden being a brawler will be in close to the enemy. Suppressing fire dows additional strain damage , swift allows you to move around the battlefield easier and prime positions helps your nearby friends in cover. All in a nice win for a spec that off the cuff seems to not synergise well. Makes a nice vanguard ttpe fighter (which you can then lead into, ie vanguard)

Warden and Marial Artist from bounty hunter is fairly obvious synergy; no force ratiing but tons of perks that should be fairly useful for marial artist.

Go-getter: No force rating, but weapon qualities including brawl, stunning blow, ability to inflict disorienate, deadly accuracy makes brawl checks sharper.

Assassin; very sneaky, much burst damage for smart or coordinated which makes for a more interesting, ninja build.

Warden and Sentry are pretty good, possibility for launching a lightsaber like weapon with Saber throw enter the shadows.

Seer and warden is awesome; increased force rating for enhance and iron talisman, use a force power as a move once per session and get to move out of turn by flipping a destiny. Because Brawl is the only combat skill in the game that can be enhanced directly; the more force one can get, the more explosive it can be.

Sage is similar, but it's clearly more skill focused and isn't directly reliable to being a badass.

Excutioner is just mean.

Advisor is an interesting option, it has quite a few talents that enhance your Coercion checks by removing setback, adding boost, and with Smooth Talker success when you shouldn't. Steely Nerves will also save your bacon when things go bad for your Willpower. Then there are the other social talents that will help you in those instances where Coercion just doesn't cut it.

Hermit actually works rather well, Menace and Harass help you in triggering Overbalance. Enduring is always welcome, and 2 more FR is just fantastic with Enhance.

Executioner is probably the best not obvious spec to pair, it's built around Willpower which is great for Warden, then almost all it's Combat based talents apply to the Brawl skill, if your goal is bringing down your opponent this is the way to do it.

If catching your foe is important to you then Navigator has a lot to offer, in particular the entire 10 & 15xp rows, with shortcut from the 5xp row. It's also a cheap Force Rating talent, but there is a 25xp Master Starhopper tax to get to dedication. This tree can really make you an amazing Streetwise based Navigator getting around cities.

So if navigator is good at catching your foe, Investigator is incredible. It gives you a bunch of useful Career skills, heaps of talents that help you on your way too.

Ok out of FaD and onto AoR

Analyst is awesome, every single talent has a use, although Plausible Deniability, Improved Plausible Deniability and Twisted Words are the key ones.

Agitator is yet another great choice for the Coercion side of things, particularly the Improved and Supreme Scathing Tirade. But Intimidating, Plausible Deniability, Street Smarts and Natural Enforcer all help a bunch.

Commando goes the other way, it's a fantastic way to beef up your combat abilities, Feral Strength, Durable, Armour Master, lots of Toughened. It's going to make you much more of a tank in combat.

Infiltrator again works to bolster your combat capabilities. Defensive Stance in particular is a great way to help trigger Overbalance. But Dodge, Natural Brawler, Soft Spot and Frenzied Attack all help too.

Finally it's EotE

Gadgeteer is a standout, it's got ways of enhancing both the Brawl and Coercion sides of Warden.

Marshal... 2 more ranks of Bad Cop? Yes please! Hard Headed and Durable help a lot too.

Marauder will significantly improve your ability to hurt others this is your go to.

So what are my top picks?

If your looking to up your Force Rating then the Advisor, Investigator and Executioner have to be up there.Executioner if combat is your thing then nothing will help you bring the hurt quite as well. Investigator for all that Streetwise stuff. Advisor to build on your Coercion.

If the Force is less important than social or underworld is then Analyst or Agitator are great picks, they improve your overall social prowess and comfort in the underworld while building on key features of the Warden spec. For a bit of all of that and combat to boot then Gadgeteer is a great choice.

Warden Martial Artist will be deadly.

Did I miss the release of No-disintegrations?  How do you guys know what's in the Martial Artist Talent Tree?

A non-obvious choice but I think Consular, due to its focus on willpower, pairs very nicely with Warden and it has 2 ranks of defensive training, so if you get yourself a pair of combat gloves or a repulsor fist, then you're armed with a brawl weapon and you have melee defense 2 (2 black dice) which is nice for getting overbalance to trigger.

Just speculation and reading between the lines of the articles FFG have published.

We know it has Parry. We also know it has something called Unarmed Parry, which will be awesome for a Warden (also sounds good for a Warrior spec). Then it's probably got a talent called Coordinated Dodge first seen in Performer. Lastly there is the Improved and Supreme versions of the Precision Strike talent already in Warden, that could go a number of ways, each one devastating for an opponent. Basically it's expected be the pinnacle of Brawl fighting without using the Force...

Strangely for my warden MA id actually less attractive because of coordination dodge , which I expect will be in there it has the same cost as Baleful Gaze (a Destiny Point) and requires you to raise another skill to high ranks and because it adds just failure, works counter to overbalance, beacause Gaze upgrades the check it adds to the chance of despair and/or threat. So its kind of one or the other, and since ive already invested in overbalance / coercion and baleful gaze, its counter productive to invest in coordination dodge.

True, especially for that particular focus of a Warden. But parrying with your fists for only 2 Strain will be extremely tempting!
