tekay 0 Posted January 13, 2017 On the store site, it says out of stock. Anyone know how to get it?
evilidler 145 Posted January 13, 2017 Europe should get it around the 20th If that's the official street date it could explain why I haven't received a notice of it being mailed out yet :/
LozMac 6 Posted January 13, 2017 I was told today that January 19th is the official release day for the UK. Perhaps some retailers have been able to get it earlier somehow? soullos 147 Posted January 13, 2017 Are the encounter decks self contained or do the quests require some encounter sets from the Core set? It requires the core set in all ways. There's no way you can make legal investigators from the cards in this expansion, and it requires encounter sets from the core set. Lame... >_> I was hoping they wouldn't go that route and make all encounter decks self contained and not use encounter sets from the core set. Hopefully the core set cards are kept to a minimum to reduce breaking down core scenarios and to lesson repetition of cards I'm already familiar with. It gives far greater breadth for flavor. Do you want them wasting pack space with Locked Doors for every scenario that could, in theory, have a locked door? Which is really, any scenario taking place in a building you're not supposed to be in. Yeah it might get old seeing them again and again, but the story is cool that way. evilidler 145 Posted January 13, 2017 Was it Gameslore.co.uk you bought it from? Yes. They have mailed out on Saturdays though, I think. But there's usually a 6-day wait to deliver, and no Saturday delivery here, so that means I won't see it until the 23rd at the earliest :/

Is it really that much of a bother to take apart an encounter deck? I'm actually happy they're using core set encounter cards, because it's nice to see more use out of them (and half a dozen of them were pretty rare to use anyway). 3 SuperMarino, Network57 and Meretrix reacted to this

So that means they were used once, as opposed to twice.
Doma0997 72 Posted January 14, 2017 Or in the case of Agents, randomly not at all. Speculation time, the next cycles are going to use the agents encounter sets. We'll have innsmouth, the king in yellow, and a shub deluxe coming. Random speculation of course.

I'm actually happy they're using core set encounter cards, because it's nice to see more use out of them (and half a dozen of them were pretty rare to use anyway). Not exactly, but it does add to setup and take down. One of my main complaints from LotR was the use of encounter sets throughout a cycle because it's kind of boring seeing the same cards over and over. And over time, managing encounter sets really adds up. I prefer the later Saga quests in LotR and the POD scenarios largely because it's all pre-assembled. Very convenient when you have a large collection and just want to play now. But my main point was that it's lame that it uses core set card considering this is a deluxe box, the start point of a new campaign separate from the core campaign story. I was hoping it would be like the deluxe boxes in LotR where you only require encounter sets from the Deluxe and the accompanying AP, and nothing else (as much as I would like ALL mythos packs, Deluxe boxes to be self contained, that will never happen otherwise MP will be nothing but encounter cards, space is limited). You would think with the more space in a deluxe box and this one only having 2 quests (as opposed to the normal 3 in each LotR deluxe) they would have a little more leeway and wouldn't require any cards outside of the deluxe. But, this is just a minor complaint. Does anyone know which Core set encounter sets are used for Dunwich?
Gaffa 673 Posted January 14, 2017 Does anyone know which Core set encounter sets are used for Dunwich? Yes. I don't consider these spoilers, as you have to grab them when you're setting up the scenario, so it's not like it's hidden information when the game is being set up. You'll thrill to the return of your old friends Agents of Yog-Sothoth, Ancient Evils, Locked Doors, Rats, and Striking Fear. 2 ricedwlit and soullos reacted to this

It is great selection.Agents of Yog and Rats are absolutely underused in core. Ancient Evils and Locked Doors are so generic that they fit almost any scenario. Striking Fear is also quite generic, you expect quite a bit of bodies to show up in Arkham Files. To be honest the only encounter set from the core I wouldn't like to see anytime soon is Ghouls, I am really tired of these guys.
