A question about escorts

Recommended Posts

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but here's my question.

If you use a combination of escorts like TIE advanced and bombers as well as soontir fel would that give your bombers sufficient protection from enemy fighters?

You could take 2-3 Tie-A and Dengar and then the rest Rhymer & bombers.

This build sort of ignores enemy fighters for as long as Dengar lasts. You suffer from enemy fighters while bombing ships for as long as you can. In the old Wave 2-4 days this was as long as the Tie-As lasted then a little more for Dengar's scatter to be overcome. Snipe is now a thing in wave 5 so while Tie-As are still useful they are not watertight protection and you may be better being more aggressive against CAP forces to free up your bombers.

Adding Mauler and Fel can give the above force a better anti fighter role. Mauler hopefully gate crashes 2-3 times using intel and Sontir Fel hands out extra damage when squadrons strip away the Tie-As and then go for choice targets like Dengar, Mauler and Rhymer. If they switch to Fel to avoid taking the extra free damage as soon as your escorts die the high value characters may get an extra turn of life and this means an extra turn of bombing ships.

Lastly we turn to Sabre Squadron and IG88. These are great assassins able to kill enemy Intel, nasty A-wing characters with horrendous Counter and scatter defence tokens,  or E-Wing snipers that are a threat to your Intel.
