Can you help me with creating a squad?

Recommended Posts

I play x-wing with my dad, i play rebels and he plays imperials and have been thinking about going into my local store in the future. Right now i own a Falcon, X-wing x2, and B-wing x2. I've been running mostly falcon with 2x X-wings, and occasionally a list of X-wings x2 and B-wings x2.

I'm thinking of purchasing some more ships but i have no idea what i should get. A swarm list has been interesting me for a while and i thought of maybe getting a couple of A's or Z-95's. I also read somewhere that E-wings are good(?). There's also Y-wings that seem like an interesting choice.

Right now im thinking of a following list:

100pt

Green squadron pilot

Green squadron pilot

Green squadron pilot

Rookie pilot

Blue squadron pilot

Is this a decent swarm list? What ships would you recommend for a swarm list?

Also, wanted to take this opportunity and also ask about what is the meta currently? What ships for rebels or imperials are considered best atm and why? My dad is a 50 year old man so naturally he is not so good at following these things so i have to also ask a little for him too.

If you want to fly a Rebel Swarm, then you need five A-wings. If you're not playing in competition, then proxy these upgrades: Crack Shot, Juke, Autothrusters and Push the Limit are all popular choices. Snap Shot is fun (especially paired with Juke.) Other A-wing afficianadoes like Adpatability or VI on their Green Squadron Pilots.

If you want to fly swarms in general, then Empire is probably a better faction for you.

E-wings are not good. Corran Horn is good; the rest of the E-wing pilots make great bookmarks.

Don't worry about meta unless you are playing in tornaments. If you're mostly playing with your dad, then get the ships you both think are cool and play lists you think are fun. That being said, the meta is very diverse right now. Take a look at any forum thread regarding 2016 Worlds or current Regional results. You'll get a good breakdown of the lists people are flying competitively.

I recommend these purchases: K-wing for Rebels and First Order TIE for Empire. Both of these sets come with the cards they need to be useful. Any of the multi-ship packs (Rebel Aces, Imperial Veterans, etc.) are also great value for money. The Y-wing is a good ship; it's better with stuff that comes in the Most Wanted and K-wing sets.

Thank you for your answer. I actually ordered 4 a-wings today since they seemed super fun to fly, probably gonna get the fifth from aces later. And i know empire is the more swarmy faction but cmon, down with the empire and the sith, rebels and jedi ftw!  :D

But more seriously i kinda want an all around roster so that i can make different types of lists so when my dad learns to make lists for himself i can start thinking about countering him. (Not very fair to make myself a counter list against a list that i made for him lol.)
