veggie247 12 Posted January 7, 2017 (edited) Zertik Strom lets you reroll your attack dice (no mention of attack pool) If i attack with him using Flight controllers can i also reroll my blue die? Or do i lose it when i activate his ability? "While attacking, you may choose another friendly squadron at distance 1. If you do, that squadron suffers 1 damage and you may reroll any number of attack dice." Edited January 7, 2017 by veggie247
DiabloAzul 2,636 Posted January 8, 2017 You can certainly reroll the blue die from FC along with Strom's three reds. There is absolutely nothing that prevents it. 2 veggie247 and NairoD reacted to this
thecactusman17 3,192 Posted January 8, 2017 (edited) The general rules for rerolling dice are that you must trigger the condition for the reroll before rerolling, and that if you have any other reroll effects they must be triggered and rerolled separately. However, after the trigger, you may use the reroll at any time. So you can add the fire, trigger the damage, then reroll. Or trigger the damage, add the die, then reroll. Alternatively, you could trigger the reroll, use the reroll, then add the die. Or you could trigger the reroll, add the die, then choose not to use the reroll. This flexibility doesn't really help Strom, but it works for every "modify dice" mechanic in the game. veggie247 12 Posted January 8, 2017 (edited) Thank you both for clarifying this for me. My mate at the game store posed this question to me And my brain just went boom... lol Edited January 8, 2017 by veggie247
Ginkapo 9,321 Posted January 8, 2017 You can use it against ships too. The reroll, not the extra blue dice that is.
DiabloAzul 2,636 Posted January 9, 2017 However, after the trigger, you may use the reroll at any time. [...] Or trigger the damage, add the die, then reroll. [...] Or you could trigger the reroll, add the die, then choose not to use the reroll. Wait, no, that's not right. Once you start resolving an effect you must resolve it fully before moving to the next one (unless they're nested, but that's not the case here). So once you take the damage, you must either reroll or decline to do so right away. You can't take the damage, then add the FC die, then reroll (or choose not to). Your options are either: -take damage and reroll; then add FC die; or -add FC die; then take damage and reroll Remember that the trigger condition for both FC (add +1 die) and Strom (damage then reroll) is "While attacking". You can resolve those in any order, but fully - the only way you could interrupt Strom's ability would be with an ability which triggered when damage was dealt or taken.
