Regional List - Looking for suggestions on Rebels

Recommended Posts

I am pretty set on running Corran with Miranda. I have been able to get a lot of flying done in the past few weeks, and if flown with patience the list is incredible. As jmswoods pointed out earlier, the Lone Wolf and Stealth Device version of Corran I will be playing, has to be flown even more methodically than the PTL and EU version. Staying at range 3 until you have a chance to dive in behind Miranda shenanigans or push them into Miranda is key. I think Corran is the best ace to fly with Miranda right now. Poe just doesn't put out enough damage. Dash is pretty solid as well, but I am not a fan of having to play him at range 2-3 all the time for Outrider to work. Much harder to force your opponents into bad situations where Miranda can shine. Plus a Ion Bomb or Conner Net hit into a triple tap is death for most of the ships in the meta right now.

Fozzyman - Can you walk me through your game plan for a typical game with them?  I feel I'm on the cusp of "getting it", but I'm still failing.  I always start really well, but get myself caught with either Corran or Miranda in a very bad spot.

So, its very much based on what the opponent is playing and where they set up. Knowing whether or not they opponent wants to initiate quickly or if they want to stall is important. I normally spend at least the 3 rounds not engaging and setting Miranda up for a Advanced Slam into a Conner Net drop. If they bum rush I try as hard as possible to fight near asteroids, as it becomes significantly more difficult for opponents to dodge debris and bombs. Corran is in the back as much as possible, until it makes sense to jump in and hit with the Fletchette Torps or double tap. Other than that, it is super situational. I think this might be the most situational list in the meta right now. Dengaroo, Palp Aces, Defenders, Quad Ywing, all have very good ideas how they want the match to go. This list knows what it wants to do, it just needs to pick really specifically when to do it.

This was my regional list.

T-70 X-Wing: •Poe Dameron (HotR) (45)

Autothrusters (2)

•Black One (1)

Push the Limit (3)

•R2-D2 (4)

Pattern Analyzer (2)

K-Wing: •Miranda Doni (53)

Advanced SLAM (2)

Conner Net (4)

Thermal Detonators (3)

•Sabine Wren (2)

Homing Missiles (5)

Extra Munitions (2)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

Total: 98/100

It was really nice, it was my first time flying Miranda, and struggled against a 4 TLT-Y list. I was too aggressive, the key I found was to be patient and let them come to you, but I think they are a really bad match up for her. I chose Thermals over Ions for more damage vs control, but that matches my play style. Ions probably work better with Corran, as he can potentially double tap the following round against. PS9 with 2 points initiative came up in 3 out of my 6 matches also. Poe is so slippery in this list.

I've been playing this exact list (except Ion Bombs over Thermal Detonators) with the intention of taking it to several regionals. Totally agree about Poe - played multiple games against Fenn Rau where he just couldn't get me at range 1 due to Poe's slipperiness. I do really like the Ions, though. Managed to walk a Shadowcaster off the board with a combination of them and Connor Net. What else did you face with it?

I used to play a lot of Corran, and whilst he does hit harder than Poe, I find Poe is harder to kill, and more forgiving if you make a mistake. He's also (with PA) much less susceptible to Slicer Tools, and he can actually turn around if needed.

I played a Rey and Wild Space Finger list, with the unfortunate draw of a blinded pilot and damaged sensor array in one round when I had the perfect opportunity to drop a bomb then finish off the WSF, but Poe was able to do the work on his own. I tabled a Fenn/Teroch/Manaroo, and a tie swarm mixture. I beat a Slaver/Ketsu(with VI) with just Poe on the board also, Miranda went down before getting most of her bombs off. And I was tabled by a double ghost build.

As the day went on, I definitely learned to be patient with Miranda. It was lots of fun, played something new, but I need to practice a little more as I'm normally a 3-4 rebel ship player.

Played in a local tournament last night. The match ups in order were:

1) Gold squad Y wing, Autoblaster Turret (x5)

I hadn't seen this list anywhere yet. 5 Y-wings is scary as hell. He set up the Y-wings evenly spaced apart on his side of the mat. I set up Corran and Miranda almost all the way in my right corner to make it difficult for him to get at me. He basically rushed his entire fleet directly at me in the corner. I stayed at range three a long as possible, downing one Y-wing on turn 3 (i had taken a TLT shot at it round two, taking two shields) with a 4 straight manuever, into range one attack with Corran. Then hit it with a set of Homing Missiles to down it. He focused on Miranda, dropping her to 1 shield on that same round. After, he tried to trap Miranda with the other 4 Y-wings all around her, but I dropped an Ion Bomb, Advance Slammed her to safety and took a focus. I then ran Corran up behind the Y-wing furthest out from the group, and shot it at Range 1. With the Ion Bomb, two of his Y-wings bummed and one landed on a rock, taking a damage. I turned Miranda back around, target locked and did a 4 k-turn with Corran to shoot at the Y-wing I had a target lock on from FCS the previous turn. Miranda shot her second set of Homing Missiles, hitting four on the Y-wing that was on the rock (my Homing Missile dice were hot). Corran finished off the Y-wing he shot previously, but it took a double tap. He was able to shoot at Corran with autoblasters, removing two of his shields. Next, I did a 1 straight with Miranda, taking a target lock and a 2 soft with Corran, gaining back a shield and taking an evade. Miranda finished off the Y-wing she had just shot with Homing Missilies, as she was able to hit two hits and a crit at range one, the crit was a direct hit. I proceed to clean up the last two Y-wing with TLT and continuous pressure form Corran. Win, 200 points.

2) Bossk, Talonbane, Serissu http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/632530/round-2

So this was another list I had yet to see. All his pilots were at PS8 and I gave him initiative. This was not a terribly long match, as he flew directly at me with all of his ships. I moved Corran and Miranda around the outside of the map and we both took pot shots back and forth. He was able to drop Corran to no shields with a crazy Mangler Cannon/Bossk ability/Dengar reroll shot. I flew a little further away, regaining shields with Corran and still poking with TLT. Then, when he was pointed to the right of the mat with Bossk, I k-turned Corran and Advance Slammed Miranda to drop a Conner Net in front of Bossk. This pretty much ended the game, as I was able to drop an Ion Bomb right after the Conner Net, forcing Bossk to fly off the map, as he was ionized. He still had 3 shields when he flew off the map. After, I turned on Talonbane and fired a set of Homing Missiles into shots with Corran to destroy Talonbane. He flew Serissu around a bit, but stayed at range three with Miranda firing TLT and forced him into the corner with Corran to finish the match. Win, 200 points.

3) Biggs, Norra, Braylen http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/632534/round-3

I have seen this list many times and it is a bugger to fly against. I cannot go through this match up or the next one in detail, as I was far too focused on the match. My opponent killed Corran on some really good dice and a direct hit on turn 4. I though the match was close to over right then. I was only able to shoot twice with Corran, one set was a double tap though. Before Corran died, I had gotten into one of Braylen's hull. Norra was practically untouched and Biggs had taken a set of Homing Missles, which had taken off all of his shields. The round Corran died I dropped an Ion Bomb with Miranda that made Norra fly the wrong way. This allowed for me to Homing Missile Biggs again and kill him. With Corran gone, I spun Miranda away with Advance slam, after dropping a second Ion Bomb on Norra, and got the f*** out of Dodge. Norra had to take two rounds to reset and come after me, so my opponent came after me with Braylen. I was able to drop a Conner Net that made Braylen turn onto an asteroid, take a damage and I flew at range three for two more rounds getting TLT shots at Braylen and destroying him at the end of those rounds. At this point there was about 8 minutes left in the round. Norra came after me and after I missed one set of TLT's on the second pass, I just continually 3 maneuver Advanced Slammed until time was out. Win, 159 points.

4) The final match was against the Fenn, Manarro, Asajj mindlink build. I officially hate flying against this list. I cannot tell you how this one went, I was tired (it was 11pm) and the guy piloting this build is one the better players I have ever flown against. I have faced him three times in tournaments here and all three times it has been at the final table and he has won all three. That being said, this was the best match of the night. I killed Manarro and took Asajj down to two hull. With 5 minutes left I took Corran to fly after Asajj and he took Fenn after Miranda. I flew him through two Conner Nets that I dropped, but his piloting was awesome (as normal) and he was able to take out Miranda. I got a double tap a range 3 with Corran to end the match, but was only able to take one of his remaining two hull, leaving Asajj with only one hull!!!!! So lost this match by 4 points.

Final total: 3-1

I love this list. It is incredibly rewarding when flown well, and a pain when flown poorly. This is however, the most fun I have had playing any list and will definitely fly it at the regional tournament.

Wow, thanks for this awesome reporting. I played the list from Kevin Leintz as well for a few games and did like it very much. I think I will use your tested list for next weeks regional here in Dublin, Ireland :)

Just to confirm your list:

Corran Horn (48) - E-Wing
Lone Wolf (2), R2-D2 (4), Sensor Jammer (4), Stealth Device (3)

Miranda Doni (52) - K-Wing
Twin Laser Turret (6), Extra Munitions (2), Homing Missiles (5), Sabine Wren (2), Conner Net (4), Ion Bombs (2), Advanced Slam (2)

Thanks for this thread and the detailed evaluation of the different options.

Close. So the list is correct except I took off Sensor Jammer on Corran and put on FCS and Flechette Torps. As Corran doesn't have PTL in this build, getting the free target lock lets you have some token economy. And sensor jammers is useless against zuckuss.

How often did you have good use for the Flechette Torpedos?

Only once. But I didn't play against much PTL or other stress inducing ships. Against defenders and against Manaroo, i think they could be really helpful.
