Which Lieutenants appear in RTL?

Recommended Posts

Playing the RTL app exclusively (including The Delve), i would like to own all the lieutenant miniatures which may appear in side/main quests and delve stages.

Owning 4 expansions that sums up to 14 lieutenant packs i'd have to purchase. So i would gladly skip those lieutenants who don't appear in any quest/stage.

Is there any knowledge if they all appear or if some of them never will be seen?

I know, they all can appear in perils, i don't mind that, shouldn't happen to often anyway ...

Kindred's Fire Campaign uses only the following lieutenants

The Farrow brother:

Sir Alric Farrow

Lord Merick Farrow

Mostly Merrick, Alric only appears on the finale.

I have only seen 1 lieutenant on a side mission:

Splig on Mist of Bilehall

Lastly, I'm not sure which lieutenant appear on the Delve

But I know Gargan Mirklace appears on a stage from Shadow of Nerekhall; and, Ardux also appears on a stage for its own expansion too.

Note that a lieutenant can still appear as an agent in any quest as an effect from a peril.

Does this happen often? Only recently added all the expansion stuff and not had one yet but excited for one to appear :D

Well, without trying to dissapoint you, I consider that they don't show up often, I said that time ago, and as far as I know, they haven't change it.

From what I've played it's strange to see an Agent appearing in a quest. I own 12 of 20 lieutenants, yet it seems you will only see 1 or 2 appearing per campaign (note delve is not here as it is strange to see major perils on Delve, because it is much more faster than a campaign).

We know that perils appear over time according to something you could call a "Peril-clock". During the gameplay there's some kind of clock timing the rounds spent inside the quest. The longer the clock keeps ticking, the stronger the perils will become.

There are three types of Perils: Minor and Major, and what I call Deadly. Over time you get minor perils which are almost inoffensive, but when major perils arrive you start to see things are getting harder, and well, as it's name say it, the last peril is to finish the heroes once and for all.

Now, Agents can only be spawned by a Major Peril effect. Which means that if you finish the quest quick, you won't face major perils at all. But, if you happen to take too much time inside the quest, then, an Agent could appear (because spawning agents is not the only major peril). Nevertheless, from my expirience, after the Agent appears, you have aproximately around 3 to 4 rounds to finish the quest, because the next peril will be a Deadly. You can "pause" this clock by completling objetives, but it is hard to do so becuase if you reached that amount of time inside the quest, that means you happened to be either too wounded or bad positioned. Lastly, this clock is much more shorter when playing in hard mode, so you really want to finsih quest faster.

That's why I said lieutenant packs aren't for RtL (at least not the ones that don't appear on quests/stages), they are better for the traditional game, IMO. I have them because I use them on my campaings with my friends, but when it comes to me playing (solo) kindred fire, I do not bother to take them out of the box.

Pertile don't occur at all in delve. Most lieutenants do though (two per delve, and around for a whole stage) so the packs are for models only.

This.

IMHO The Delve moved the Lieutenant Packs from the "maybe one day, but there are other more important expansions" to "must have them all" pretty quickly.

If you don't own/play The Delve then only the Kindred Fire ones are important (per Volkren's post above)

Thanks all for your answers.

So they all have their own boss stage in The Delve?

Perhaps i'll skip some of the ugly small miniatures (especially Eliza Farrow) and get the rest. The bigger miniatures seem all to be looking great though.

They really should add a little more value to the lieutenant packs, at least a side quest in RTL for each lieutenant or something like that.

Sounds like it might not be completely clear. Here is my go at it :)

Lieutenant packs provide a plastic figure of a lieutenant together with a Plot deck and Act I and Act II agent cards. In addition, Lieutenant packs of Raythen and Serena provide Hero sheets and plastic figures to play the respective character as a hero. Lieutenant packs do not include heroes or Overlord cards, monsters, items, or relics and do not unlock stages for The Delve or side quests in campaign play of Road to Legend.

The Delve

Boss stages for The Delve are unlocked when boxed expansions (Labyrinth of Ruin, Nerekhall, etc) are added to RtL. Each expansion comes with 1 to 3 lieutenants (as cardboard tokens). The added boss stages in The Delve then feature these lieutenants. All that a Lieutenant pack does in this respect is providing you a plastic figure to replace the lieutenants cardboard token.

RtL campaign play

In RtL campaign play Lieutenant packs allow the app to summon the agent version of the lieutenant through a major peril in any quest.

Bear in mind that "Lieutenants" generally refer to campaign specific villains, so it depends on the campaign's narrative as to which ones will show up and in which quests.  Agents, which are pulled from the Lieutenant packs, can show up due to peril effects and and are randomly chosen from your collection.  So if you have all the packs, in theory, you could encounter any "Lieutenant" as an agent at any time during a quest.  In our last quest, Ardus Ix'Erebus showed up behind us leading a squad of undead warriors (which was quite thematic for his character) because we were taking too long and peril reached extreme levels.
