sigmazero13 102 Posted January 8, 2010 The closest thing I know of is Play By Forum games. If you go over to ti3wiki.org, you'll find quite a few PBF games going on, and if you wait I'm sure you'll find another one starting up. The only "requirement" is that you own a copy of the game. Mare Cagiva 0 Posted January 8, 2010 I dont understand....What copy of a game?
possumman 1 Posted January 9, 2010 You can play TI3 online by forum posts. A typical couple of posts might be: Player 1: Activate Mellon/Zohbat. Move in the cruiser from my homesystem. Build a dreadnought and 2 fighters, exhaust Lazar (1), Starpoint (3) and 2 TGs. Player 2: Play Spacedock Accident on Mecatol Rex Player 3: ... There will be a GM (Games Master) who updates the website which shows what state the game is in, for example http://www.ti3wiki.org/index.php?title=Galactic_Council_PBeM (ignore the crazy stuff at the top). However, we cannot legally publish the texts of any Action Cards or Political Cards, so in order to play, you need to own a copy of the game. Otherwise, you won't know what Spacedock Accident does. The average game takes a few months to play, with 2 or 3 actions per day.

IE, you need to have the game, you can't play online if you haven't bought it yet, because one of FFG's requirements is that card text cannot be posted online, which means if you don't own the game, you won't know what the Action Cards and Policital Cards do. Thomas68 0 Posted January 9, 2010 There is a facility to play online TI3 is: VASSAL ENGINE VASSAL is a game engine for building and playing online adaptations of board games and card games. It allows users to play in real time over a live Internet connection (in addition to playing by email). It runs on all platforms, and is free for personal use. Here is an example: http://www.preeminent.org/steve/games/ti3/ti3demo/3-player/home/credits.shtml You can download this program from: http://www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php?option=com_downloads&Itemid=26 (I suggest 3.0 version) You also need this file to play: http://www.mediafire.com/?8yj9zbenif2 I have this game for months, but there was not enough people to play. If you have questions or u want to play, please call me!
Rone27 0 Posted February 13, 2010 Hey Thomas66, I tried TI3 on Vassal but couldn't figure out the interface. Where can I find a tutorial/guide on how to use the TI3 module? I want to play Hot-Seat with some friends. Rone
Thomas68 0 Posted February 14, 2010 I have found only two websites on http://www.ti3wiki.org/index.php?title=TI3_VASSAL about your problem. These are: http://www.ti3wiki.org/index.php?title=VASSAL_TI3_Mod_Documentationand: http://www.ti3wiki.org/index.php?title=VASSAL_TI3_Mod_FAQ When we have played, we also dont know how it is works, but later we figure out the program. The most important thing is to choose from the group a Game Maker (GM) who is in central position because he/she has to control the game progress. Good luck for the game!
Rone27 0 Posted February 14, 2010 Ah.. So Vassal will not do the dirty work for you? Do you have to check that the players don't cheat/make a mistake? Will Vassal limit you to legal moves only? I've found that we've always made mistakes with rules when starting to learn games and was hoping Vassal will help us find and eliminate these mistakes. Thomas68 0 Posted February 15, 2010 Sorry but I hava to say that Vassal only create a facility to play TI3 online, and you have to check the player moves. I think the players have to learn the rules next to the board game and after it should play online, because I believe it is very difficult to check moves in vassal. So the program dont check any rules, it transplant only the board game pieces to pc.I hope this is the answer for your questions!
