40k players: Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer is HOW much?

Recommended Posts

So I was clearing out my bookshelf of books I no longer give two damns about, or would never, ever re-read or lend out - or have multiple copies of. As I was filtering the junk, I cracked open the only Warhammer 40,000 book I still have on the shelf - The Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer, 2003 edition - and glanced through it. Still vaguely amusing (ocular reflex!), but not really worth keeping. So why not sell it?

So I looked online for a pricetag, a place to start an auction on eBay and...

I literally cannot believe this price.

Actually, I can't. I know good and well the feedback loop that Amazon prices get into on old stuff that no one cares about; the only ones left are the ones which are priced at ridiculous levels, which means people only post new copies AT that ridiculous level, which no one buys...

So I need some advice from the people on here who DO still play 40k. Just how much should I sell the **** little book for? I'd find it hilariously apropos if this little book actually goes for a ridiculously inflated price which I can then funnel into other, more playable games like Malifaux or Warmahordes or X-wing.

Just... like a little time capsule of my history with Games Workshop.

Well the book is out of production and i don't know how many of them were made, but i would be careful whit what people on Amazon or ebay want, this is not necesseraly what something is worth.

I can't tell you what it is worth but i know some of those book (those 4 chaos books) or some miniatures can get quite pricy for whatever reaseon, just looked my Xenology book up for fun, shouldn't have opened it ;)

But this is not only a GW thing, look at other miniature wargame exclusive items or miniatures or ks exclusives, or limited release stuff, sometime you are amazed by the prices for a little metal/resin/plastic miniature or a book or board game stuff.

I will give you 50$ for it right frigging now.

60$?

80$?

But seriously if you undercut the Amazon price by like 10-15 dollars you'll still make a decent little pile of money and your book will sell much faster than the other hopefuls. It's up to your discretion you'know? Do you want a little less money -rightnow- or more money later?

Okay, I used to know the trick for getting old listings to show up, but it failed me. How did you do that?

There have been several people on different forums who've wanted the book and I can't make a fair decision as to whom it should be, so I'll just let it be decided in the ancient arena of... ONLINE AUCTION!

I Put it up on eBay with a frankly optimistic Buy It Now price.

WELL guess I should put mine up. Mine is damocales though so only going for 45-50

Might wanna wait til the other Democles Edition ends, though. Frankly, I did a mean thing to him, because the only people who want it are collectors, and mine is in theory more collectible.

I remember buying a poster of as a child. It was a star chart of the southern hemisphere. Stars glowed in the dark and all the constellations, nebulae, novas, and even a single black hole (hard to find those things back in the 80s, had to shoot a bright flashlight into the sky and follow the direction the beam curved). Decades later with kids in the house, figure I could get the northern counterpart, set them both up in my son's room, and have couple of nice starry walls for him.

Thing costs $500 now. Of course nobody seems to be buying them either. I sure as heck won't.

Undercut the gougers and get the sale, you'll make a nice bit of cash compared to what you bought it for while their stays on a bookshelf gathering dust.

That being said I lent my Primer to my cousin to read months ago. Think its about time I ask for it back.

I'm actually more convinced that some people on ebay don't understand what money is, let alone value, and just enter a random 3 digit number...
