A fun Star Wars project for my son

Hey all!

Okay, thought I would share one photo (you'll have to click on the link to see the others... sorry, easier than pasting all of the photos here, hope nobody minds) of what I made recently for my son!

Now, I've been getting him a bunch of the Micro Machine Star Wars guys to play with.  He adores them, and I thought I would make some very simple little "play rooms" for his guys.

They are supposed to be able to be used for either side, and had to be open for little hands and be tough... so no small details sticking up or anything.

You can likely tell what I made... most of them have a "theme".

Anyway, thought you all might like to see!

Thanks!

Very well done sir!

If we had more fathers who put this sort of effort into their children's lives, the world would be a much much better place. My eldest is a junior in college now and some of his fondest possessions are the toys from Episode 4 we played adventures with. I have a feeling these items will be treasured the same, but even moreso because you took the time to make them for him.

Awesome!

Love the view screen with the destroyer in it.

Definitely winning you some cool dad points with this one :)

Hah!  Wasn't sure if folks would notice that detail.

Yeah, I do a lot of toy work for him.  Made him a really nice sword out of wood... got him a bunch of the old Star Wars stuff and painted it up to make it look cool... I figure, a boy likes to have cool toys, and if he can have toys that I make he will appreciate it, and them, more, because they will be better toys!:)

This was his Christmas gift last year, actually:

I actually documented making it on my blog... if folks are interested in some eye candy, here is the link:

Good Job. In a far future he will remember moments like this and he will smile. Time invested playing with your son is simply the best invesment a father can do.

I played a lot of LEGO with my father, and later wargames. That Avalon Hill cold Sunday afternoons...

Your son is lucky. My dad would beat me with a fluorecent lightbulb and call it at lightsaber.

Ok, I was just kidding! :D He didn't do that.

My dad did actually make and paint a clay model of Jabba the Hutt  when we couldn't find the toy in the stores. That was sweet.

He didn't play along much with the action figures, but later we played a lot of games of Space Crusade.
