Googam 10 Posted December 15, 2016 So, why does Duke have a cost if he just starts in play? I'm guessing incase we end up with another card along the lines of Scavenging
Googam 10 Posted December 15, 2016 I'm very excited for Pete. Lots of skill cards for his deck I reckon.
Andre Bigler 56 Posted December 15, 2016 Duke can die from damage/horror and be put in the discard pile. From there, if it happens you need to shuffle the discard to make a new deck (at the 1 horror cost), to play Duke again you need to pay the resources. He's free only at the start of the game. VermillionDe 70 Posted December 16, 2016 I was excited for Jim Culver, but getting a closer look at how he works and how he synergies with some of the cards from the set makes me ecstatic to see him. Culver +2 candles is going to be a powerhouse. Throw in a couple of evade cards, a couple of Hard Knocks. He'd be pretty self sufficient just from a skill perspective. soullos 147 Posted December 16, 2016 Wow, this is a box full of goodies. Except for the Guardian cards (which I feel are duds for solo play for the most part), everything here is good, even the Weaknesses. I'm especially excited for Pete. Dumb question, these investigators can include 5 0-level cards from any class. Is that 5 cards total? Or is that 5 unique cards, meaning a 2nd copy doesn't count against the total? I'm guessing it's the former.

If only it were the latter Still, in a 30(ish) card deck 5 cards is quite a bit. 1 soullos reacted to this

jonboyjon1990 958 Posted December 16, 2016 I'm disappointed that there aren't any tomes. There's always the packs for that. I expect there'll be at least one in Miskatonic Museum 1 CEOWolf reacted to this
Noccus 324 Posted December 16, 2016 Great box! Really like Zoey & Pete. And none of the other player cards feel like a coaster right now. Well done Matt!
lmartin91 73 Posted December 16, 2016 So, why does Duke have a cost if he just starts in play? Maybe if there is an effect where you get him back from your discard pile?
VermillionDe 70 Posted December 16, 2016 (edited) Agnes lusts after Clarity of Mind. This is true in part, but it also takes up one of her valuable arcane slots. I was planning on running shriveling and the Rite of Seeking with her. Now I find myself wishing I could take Rogue cards with her for some Liquid Courage. Still, the new ally for Survivor seems useful to her (for when she gets Horror and there's no target to hit). Granted, I say this and I know I'll put at least one copy of it in my Agnes deck. CEOWolf 46 Posted December 16, 2016 I just realized something. Wouldn't The Dunwich expansion have a campaign book with all eight scenes?
SuperMarino 138 Posted December 16, 2016 I just realized something. Wouldn't The Dunwich expansion have a campaign book with all eight scenes? It doesn't. Some other group had a review of it and said the campaign book only had the two scenarios.
CEOWolf 46 Posted December 16, 2016 Well then will the boosters have a foldup insert about the scene?
Andre Bigler 56 Posted December 16, 2016 Well then will the boosters have a foldup insert about the scene? Just like each Lord of the Rings LCG have a foldup insert with storyline and specific scenario rules

I prefer those, they're much easier to keep around with the Encounter Decks. 2 Xenu's Paradox and VermillionDe reacted to this

It's a spell, so more draw with the Heirloom in play, and spell assets use charges, so they have limited uses. Jus' sayin'.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I just wish I had one more arcane slot is all. I tend to buy Book of Shadow's with agnes first thing so I can keep my workhorse spells around. I'm still going to use it regardless, I just wish it had been a charm or something in a hand slot. Still, beggars can't be choosers I suppose. It's a great card. I prefer those, they're much easier to keep around with the Encounter Decks. Oh man, I hope that's the case. Those paper inserts are kind of a pain to keep track of, especially after several cycles. Unless FFG is on-point with their PDF downloads (if LotR is any indication, they're not, they're always behind), then having the insert be a card would be ideal, even if it counts as 1 or 2 of the 60 cards in the pack. 1 rsdockery reacted to this
rsdockery 537 Posted December 16, 2016 Yeah, even the Core campaign guide is pretty flimsy, and those folded-up sheets in the adventure packs are even worse (particularly with all that folding!). It doesn't matter so much for LotR, since you can usually memorize the relevant rules, but the guides for AHLCG are supposed to contain all the setup and resolution instructions. If they do go with the inserts, it might be wise to keep a backed-up scan of them on file...

If you're taking the Book of Shadows, you do have one more arcane slot. I feel like 3 should be plenty. Any more than that, and you wouldn't have to be making the decisions about what to use in those limited slots that other classes have to make.
