i'm guessing that it was announced a while back. If you scroll down the page, under booster packs you'll see the next expansion is supposed to be called "spirit of the rebellion"

FFG accidentally tweeted about the new expansion about ten days ago, a tweet they promptly removed. It read something like: "Rogue One enters Star Wars: Destiny with the new "Spirit Of Rebellion" series #swdestiny #rogueone" (I'm paraphrasing). You can find threads discussing the spoil on here.

 

I thought we'd get the first spoil a day or two ago, to coincide with the movie hitting the cinema. Hopefully it'll come early next week so I can stop going insane.

Also remember that we WILL be seeing characters used again. *Edited as it has not been confirmed that said die will have the same results and can be used with the same character die used before.*

*Edited once more to correct and avoid any misdirection or misleading information.* As it stands it has been noted that some characters will be used again. How? Why? When? We shall see. Example given was that of Darth Vader. Remember that while this may be talked about it may also never come to be.

I can see different versions of other characters such as Leia as bounty hunter, Luke as X-Wing pilot, Han as Rebel general and so on and so forth. All I know is that while the first set is awesome and I can not help but dream who will make it in the second set...or more so who I would like to see make it.

*Update: I have jumped the gun and my understanding (or more so lack of) got the best of me. There is NO confirmation at this time that the die will be the same and/or have the same results as the same character die before it. Vader has been noted as there will be another version HOWEVER we do not know IF his die will be the same or different. My lack of faith in the Force has been very disturbing and I shall see to it at once that it has been taken care of...*goes to Destiny set and pulls out Force Choke die*.

the dice has the character card number on it so I assume each character same or not will have unique die

I am of course looking forward very much to a Rogue One expansion.  A few thoughts:

• I doubt it will be out before April/May/June (going by FFG's track record from other games, and this one for that matter) and wouldn't be surprised if it was even later.
• I am also looking forward to multiple versions of characters (I know some people don't like this), though I doubt there will be any in the next expansion.  I hope that the other versions of characters are more different--as in alternate dice facings, text, point costs, health, color (sometimes) and so on.  For example I would love to see an ANH Luke that was less points, with not as strong die and with a different effect.  This could represent the character better in terms of where he is at specific places in the films and the growth of the character (we already have a "Jedi Luke" that looks like he's in the Emperor's throne room).  The whole "alternate versions of main characters" has been done in all of the major releases of Star Wars CCG/TCG/LCG's, with (IMO) varying levels of success.  I liked how the TCG handled it ("stacking" a character with different versions) and the CCG (literally releasing "older" or "leveled up" characters as Decipher worked its way through the films.  I didn't as much like how the LCG did multiple versions, as they were in many ways very similar to each other (I.E. a Luke with a picture from ANH had the same "stats" as one from ROTJ, which felt off to me).

That would be ill advised.  Until they get the current initial wave out in force (January) FFG will probably hold off on announcing future expansions.

Agreed, not every set for sure.  I wouldn't mind having 4-5 versions in a few years of some of the main main characters (IE Luke, Leia, Han, Vader/Anakin, Obi-Wan, etc.)

 

 

There is probably an obvious reason why they limited the character selection to so few characters.  I assume there will be a couple or 4 characters that are VERY relevant to the particular Destiny Release (Awakenings - Rey, Kylo, Poe, Finn) and all the other characters will be characters of varying popularity from High (Yoda, Chewie, Obi-wan, Anakin, Boba) to mid (Ahsoka, Thrawn, Bail Organa, Wedge) to low (aka who the heck is Bala-Tik?).

Until they have completely run out of the HIGH popularity characters group, I assume there won't be too much character repeats.  If they literally never repeat a character, it would be a mistake.  I mean, I think there should be a starter or 2 eventually that have Luke and Darth.

Hero:
Blue: Obi Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Chirrut, and maybe Force Adept
Red: Cassian Andor, Bail Organa, Bodhi Rook, and then some Episode 4 Pilot, maybe Wedge or Biggs
Yellow: Chewbacca, Jyn Erso, Baze Malbus, then some random rogue type like Bala Tik

Villain:
Blue: Darth Maul, Darth Sidious, Ventress, and Fallen Jedi (Villain version of padawan)
Red: General Tarkin, Krennic, Death Trooper, and something else
Yellow: Alien guy wanted on 12 systems and his buddy, Bounty Hunter Changling from Episode 2 and maybe a Jawa.

I see no reason why they wouldn't be. I'm afraid we'll never see the likes of Kyle Katarn again, though, which saddens me to no end. Did anyone else notice the rail gun from Dark Forces 2 on Use the Force?

third set indeed! the card without stats was shown at the FFG release\launch event and can be seen on one of the team covenant video's.
