Algernon 81 Posted December 11, 2016 With two core sets and a 4 player game (three new people playing), I'm curious if people are using all one color decks or if they are still using the recommended decks? So for example, Roland with all blue cards from the two core sets or Roland with blue and yellow as recommended? Thanks!

Samea 141 Posted December 12, 2016 (edited) Deck building with 4 players and 2 core sets is not optimal, but doable. The prebuilt starter decks are bland at best, but mostly horrible. In my Opinion they only exist to get Players into deck building, because even the greatest noob will quickly find some cards he'd like to throw out and some he'd like to draw more often or with geater probability. With 4 players one character is always missing, so there will always be some wiggling room. And after gaining some xp, lower level versions of important cards may become available to other characters. With the cards available, I find true "mono" decks not very attractive. For example, if you give all blue cards to Roland, he will end up with more firepower than he could use or afford. I usually like him with some reliable weapons and cheap skill cards. That leaves some blue cards to Skids, who can put them to good use, it is also much easier for him to pay for dynamite. That leaves some green cards free for Wendy, who can get the most out of all this evasion stuff. Wendy is pretty tanky and untouchable, so Agnes can have some of the defensive equipment. Agnes wants all her spells and spellcasting stuff, so Daisy cannot have any. Daisy works really well as an overspecialized clue hoover, if she can rely on the other characters to kill and tank all the enemies. Not all ideal, but it works and with Dunwich arriving soon, new cards and investigators will relax the situation even more and offer more options. Bronze 28 Posted December 14, 2016 It seems easier with three. With three people you can have 2 individuals that don't collide with each other and the third only dips into one persons pool of cards. With that approach one person has freedom and the others have to split cards on a single role that they share, but that isn't too bad. If playing with four it would be nice if one of your friends was in on the game with you and willing to purchase 2 core sets as well. It will get harder and harder with small packs because everyone will want to be using the fun new shiny toys and you won't want to buy "double" expansion packs.
