Tips for Starting Out

Recommended Posts

May be a stupid question, but also a newbie here: is the intention that section in a campaign accumulated health/horror/resources are maintained? I.e. If you end scenario 1 with 3 health lost, you begin scenario 2 with 3 health lost? If so what happens to cards in play etc?

Also, can cards like Physical Training be triggered more than once per skill test?

Each scenario in a campaign is a separate game - you start from scratch, just like the first game: nothing in play, 5 cards in hand, 5 resources.  If you have taken physical or mental trauma from previous scenarios, you will start with some damage or horror on your investigator, but damage tokens that were on your character card from last time are removed.  You have to follow the setup instructions for the scenario, which can sometimes cause additional effects based on previous scenarios, but in general you should look at it as starting a new game.

Physical Training can indeed be triggered more than once per test.

So tips for putting it away if you have no money?

Tips for putting what away? Physical Training? It's a slotless Asset, so it sits in play harmlessly if you decide not to use it. Doesn't even prevent you from playing a second copy, if you want to for some reason.

There are lots of storage solutions available for money (storage boxes, binders, deck boxes etc.). If you are not yet sure which one is for you, I'd start out with using the core set box first.

To keep everything organized, either utilize ziploc bags or put in an hour or two of crafting to make separators from cardboard or foamcore like this guy.

For one core and no money, just take the insert that comes in the game and invert it.  So instead of having one big column in the middle you'll have two smaller columns down the side.  You can put two stacks of cards in each of those columns and if you put your tokens in little baggies they can go between the piles of cards to keep them from slipping into each other.  This will work for sleeved or unsleeved cards.  It was what I did until I picked up my second core set (and this would probably continue to work with 2 core sets if you don't sleeve your cards).

<snipped>

Thanks for posting that!

I just encountered this situation.  That is the way I assumed it worked, also, but I haven't found anything yet in the manuals to support this.  Do you know if it is explicitly addressed in the rules, or inferred from other rules?

Inferred from other rules. It has the free action trigger and has no limits placed on it which means you can use it as often as you like. If it said something like "once per skill test" then it would be limited.
