Pelta's destruction.

Recommended Posts

Another related (and rather obscure one) would be Rieekan flying off the board after having created some zombies.

Rieekan being destroyed by fire is easy. His ship then a zombie so can maintain and create new zombies until the end of the turn.

Flying off map counts as destroyed does it not? So would you keep Rieekan's ship hanging off the end of the table until the end of the round and could it do actions such as Squadron command (using Flight Commander).

Rieekan's text says the zombie remains in the play area until the end of the round so would a ship flying off map stop at the table edge?

Nope, I believe that one was handled somewhere already (FAQ?). Because those ships going off the edge are technically fleeing, but they count as destroyed for scoring purposes. So If Rieekan zombie-horse-drawn chariot goes of the edge, it is immediately gone. And like Motti, any ships currently enjoying his necromancer life-enhancing abilities leave with him. Sort of like how all the orcs died with Sauron at the end of LOTR.

Though, you do actually bring up a very interesting point. Here we have an instance of an effect that triggers while the card is in play with text stating that it goes til the end of the round, but that we already have a precedence for what happens when the ship that card is attached to leaves the battlefield. The effect ends.

The FAQ says if a ship with Rieekan as the commander, whether he is on it or not, is immediately removed from the game if it goes off the table, as Parkdaddy hinted at.

Is there anything to back this up?

The big difference between Rieekan and Motti is that Rieekan is effectively a triggered duration after a "when" timing event. Surely, Rieekan only needs to be here when that event happens to trigger?

If Rieekan is on the table when something is destroyed, that something stays until the end of turn. If he isn't, then that something is removed immediately. Once the effect is triggered, it isn't Rieekan's presence that's keeping that something on the table.

So in a turn, things would go like this for a careless Rieekan player:

- ship A dies, zombified.

- flagship B goes off the table, is destroyed and taken off the play area. Ship A remains until the end of turn.

- ship C is destroyed, and taken off the play area, because Rieekan isn't here to trigger. Ship A remains until the end of turn.

I don't see why he or the Pelta effects would work otherwise.

The cards say the effect once triggered last to the end of the round specifically, so seems pretty clear.

If Tarkin dies do you take the tokens he gave out at the beginning of the round, or if Tagge dies do you remove the defense tokens?

I believe, "thematically", it goes like this.

Pelts gives the command. Each ship now has extra comm umph. Lol

Pelts dies.

Each ship still has the comm umph to give out to squads.

Rules wise. Golden rule wins. The card does state till end of round. Yes, when it leaves play the effect stops. But, it is not a continuous effect 'ala-motti'..

As for the discard cards, the Golden rule states you get to do the effect while the coat is discarding it. So the timing is, you resolve 'X' then the card is discarded.

Is tricky. Takes a special mind to think this way(the way I do... realized after sleep that could come out wrong:/ ).. Almost like deploying with all ships stacked on each other... (wink wink nudge nudge lol... all fun and games)

I think the "until the end of the round" is pretty clear. If someone told me that as long as it is discarded it doesn't work would find myself arguing that he can't resolve brace during the damage step (or whatever it was named) as long as his brace token is discarded since "spend token step".

Some upgrades has deferred effects. I think that until the end of the round isn't necessary to understand it works even if you discard it. I think that until the end of the round is added to clarify that works even if pelta is destroyed what is a different situation. Engine techs, another upgrade that works after the instance that allow you to use it, doesn't work when the ship is destroyed.

Other question is if I like it as imperial player. For me is weird that it works even if a blow up the Pelta but who knows? Maybe they scream all fighters follow me through the radio just before they became stardust. Of course the fighters can't follow the Pelta but it doesn't mean that they couldn't be encouraged.
