Your favorite / most successful Tie Phantom list

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I really like this ship, and I was wondering if I could maybe get new ideas or suggestions for a list about her.

My usual set-up is Whisper, a TieD of some sort and a mini ace (OL, ZL).

I tried this for my first tourney :

"Whisper" (41) - TIE Phantom
Veteran Instincts (1), Fire Control System (2), Tactician (2), Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

Countess Ryad (32) - TIE Defender
TIE/x7 (-2)

"Omega Leader" (26) - TIE/FO Fighter
Juke (2), Comm Relay (3)

Total 99 pts

(it's in a thread here https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/235123-first-tournament-list-whisper-countess-and-ol/#entry2508249)

It did reasonably well considering the overall level of skill against mine.

However I found Ryad kind of lacks some dmg if your dice rolls are poor.

I have read a lot about Whisper + Decimator, and wonder if it could be overall a better set-up.

Otherwise I thought of this list and tried it once with a friend :

Whisper Ion Vessery and Zeta  (99 pts)

"Whisper" (41) - TIE Phantom
Veteran Instincts (1), Fire Control System (2), Tactician (2), Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

Colonel Vessery (38) - TIE Defender
TIE/D (0), Ion Cannon (3)

"Zeta Leader" (20) - TIE/FO Fighter

It worked quite well, since Vessery managed to push through a lot of Ion tokens and dmg, and I had Whisper on the flank putting stress.

I found Zeta easier to play than OL to land dmg.

I play casually because I need to practice a lot (started the game 3 months ago).

Thanks a lot.

A.

Took the below to the top 16 of the MA regionals last year (which I think was just around 100 attendees, though I could be mistaken):

Phantom Pain (99 pts)

"Whisper" (44) - TIE Phantom
Veteran Instincts (1), Fire Control System (2), Gunner (5), Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

"Omega Leader" (26) - TIE/FO Fighter
Juke (2), Comm Relay (3)

Omicron Group Leader (29) - Lambda Shuttle
Emperor Palpatine (8)

The kicker is that I hadn't played a Phantom in months, I had been running an entirely different list for practice and changed my mind on the drive to the event. I suspect I'd have done even better, had I practiced with it more. I think it was Triple Jumpmaster fear that pushed me to the Phantom (I didn't see Triple Jumps, but I did encounter plenty of TLT Ys...).

A high Pilot Skill ship with FCS pairs very well with Vessery.

This list I find works best with Whisper flanking while Vess & ZL stay somewhat close together (although not too close---keeping them spread a bit keeps their dial options open and allows more unpredictable flying).

Whisper w/ VI, FCS, rebel captive & ACD = 42

Vessery w/ X-7 & crackshot = 34

Zeta Leader w/ crackshot & comm relay = 24

100

With rebel captive, you don't really need an initiative bid for Whisper.

my favorite phantom build (it tends to die miserably in the local meta) is:

Soontir Fel w/ PTL, Title, AT, Targeting Comp: 34

Echo w/ Outmaneuver, Agent Kallus, Collision Detector, SPA: 37

Lt. Colzet w/ Title, FCS, Engine Upgrade, S-threads: 28

total: 99

on anouther note, for a soft fix what do you guys think of increasing ACD to 5 pts to make it a title?

I tried this combo yesterday and it was a lot of fun:

Oicunn+Lone wolf+rebel captive+palpatine+engine upgrade

Whisper+Veteran Instincts+agent kallus+advanced cloaking device

It was the first time i played both ships and i made many mistake.  The first 3 turns, the decimator faced Poe, Corran Horn and a generic A-wing alone.  My opponent dice rolls were pretty good but the decimator managed to finish the game alive.  By the time Whisper joined the fight both Poe and the A-wing were almost dead.

If i had to make some change to the list i would replace engine upgrade and maybe lone wolf on Oicun.  I would also consider replacing Kallus on Whisper if i have more points available. If not, he seems to be the best possible choice for a crew at 2pts.

Another option would be to replace Oicunn by kenkirk and rebel captive by ysanne isard.  I was surprised by how though Oicunn was without any defense.  I feel the build wouldnt loose much offense for a major boost in defense.

I really like this one. You think that rebel captive will discourage people to shoot whisper ?

Did you ever try a list as the one I posted above ?

This is a favorite of mine recently. Pretty sure I stole and tweaked the idea from the another thread though.

Rear Admiral Chiraneau (60) - VT-49 Decimator Adaptability (0), Seismic Charges (2), Rebel Captive (3), Mara Jade (3), Dauntless (2), Engine Upgrade (4)

"Whisper" (39) - TIE Phantom

Veteran Instincts (1), Fire Control System (2), Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

But I have played plenty with Kenkirk&Isard and like how long it will last

I've used this list and its pretty good.

Rebel Captive doesn't necessarily stop someone from shooting Whisper, but it does mess them up.  If you are certain Whisper is going to get shot, always take evade as your action.  Next turn, the enemy's highest PS ship will be stressed (from rebel captive).  Now you have a maneuvering advantage.  Either they make the predictable move (a green one to clear stress) and you can dodge their arc, or they predict your arc-dodging move and use a white move instead to keep arc, but stay stressed and so no action.

And that's just a regular ship.  Any ship that uses Push the Limit or has already been stressed (say from a k-turn) may very well choose NOT to shoot at Whisper for fear of doubling up on stress tokens...

Here is my most successfull list.  I've been playing rebels for past 2 months now though.   I really like having backdraft instead of a 4 total health TIE.

"Whisper" — TIE Phantom  32 Veteran Instincts 1 Fire-Control System 2 Advanced Cloaking Device 4 Ship Total: 39

Countess Ryad — TIE Defender 34 Juke 2 TIE/x7 -2 Ship Total: 34

"Backdraft" — TIE/sf Fighter 27 Adaptability 0 Special Ops Training 0 Ship Total: 27

Hits really really hard. 100-0 a Carnor and two juke double Defender list. 100-0 an Inquisitor, OL, x7 Vessery list. Destroyed a Brobot list pretty easily. Only time I have lost with the list is stupid flying by me versus Party Bus another against Party Bossk. Zuckuss is Whispers worse enemy. All casual games, but some good opponents.

I prefer a classic Buzzsaw Whisper paired with a Rec Spec Echo and an Academy Pilot to taste.  Try to grill your opponents over a medium heat at long range whilst applying liberal amounts of tokens.  Rotate once at about 90 degrees and get a nice cross hatch pattern going, then flip over and move in closer to sear in the juices...  Serve with red wine and discordant violin accompaniment.

I love the 911 list:

Whisper: VI, FCS, Rebel Captive or Kallus,  ACD

2x PS1 Delta Defenders with x7

at 97 or 98 points depending on crew option (so you can take initiative) and all three ships want to move/shoot/block 1st vs same PS

This list is pretty good too.

I liked the buzzsaw whisper but I got people using their tokens to take just one hit and avoid worst dommage with gunner re-roll.

But yeah it's still one dmg... I'm gonna try again.

Otherwise I never thought of the whisper + 2 PS 1 defenders . Looks solid and confusing
