Radar159 1 Posted December 1, 2016 Hey, i'm a x wing player that took an interest in Armada, i'm new to the game and going to play as rebels. I was wondering which capital ship between the Home One and Liberty is better to get. All advice is appreciated, thanks.
Vergilius 2,118 Posted December 1, 2016 Both ships require skill to fly, but they need to be flown very differently. I'm currently having a lot of success with a Liberty class, but I've also flown an MC80 to a regional championship last June and I've seen a few builds do well in recent days. You'll have a few transferable skills from X-wing, but on the whole, gaining experience with Armada will be more important than what particular ship you fly. 1 Ardaedhel reacted to this
emmjay 319 Posted December 1, 2016 They are totally different ships to fly. The Home One is more suited to Admiral Ackbar and his ability to add more red dice. Liberty is a forward facing rebel attempt at creating a Victory Star Destroyer. Both are good ships, when competently flown and have a good backup. 1 benskywalker reacted to this
benskywalker 715 Posted December 1, 2016 In my limited experience with both ships they are definitely both worth having. If set on choosing only one to begin with it is probably best to play some first to figure out your preferred play style because they both play drastically different from each other. Radar159 1 Posted December 1, 2016 I'm honesty leaning towards Home One, the amount of damage that is can do from its sides is incredible, I will eventually get the liberty as well, thanks for the advice.
emmjay 319 Posted December 2, 2016 (edited) I'm honesty leaning towards Home One, the amount of damage that is can do from its sides is incredible, I will eventually get the liberty as well, thanks for the advice. Which is nice. HOWEVER, Take the Liberty, with the Mon Karren title, and you can deal just as much, if not more, damage than you can in the Home One. And cheaper as well. Remember, to get the most out of Home One, you NEED Ackbar, another 38 points. So, you are looking at 152 points before you add in a Turbolaser Upgrade, which you will need. XI7 or Heavy Turbolasers are a favorite. For the same 152 points you can have the MC80 Battle Cruiser, General Dodonna, Raymus Antilles, SW-7 Ion Batteries (or Leading Shots), Spinal Armament, and Mon Karren Title. Big difference in points spent and upgrades available....... Edited December 2, 2016 by emmjay
Vergilius 2,118 Posted December 2, 2016 The point cost difference is less about the damage and more about the two ships' relative fragility. Home One doesn't need Ackbar. Rieekan is fine, especially if you're running Defiance where double-arcing to get more mileage out of Defiance is the best move. 1 Ardaedhel reacted to this
RogueCommander 236 Posted December 2, 2016 And, MC80 can be purposed as a carrier as well, where as the Liberty title is just...meh.
Coldhands 418 Posted December 2, 2016 I prefer liberty, becouse of its mobility. Considering firepower, i Think there is no big difference, with acbar home one sits on 5 red 3 Blue or 6/2, while liberty is 4/4 or 5/3 (with spinal, and Both with x17). But! Liberty can Attack twice with its Pool against 2 targets with gunnery team, home one cant. Thats big difference on damage output. Also, lot of Intel officers these Days favors the Double brace on liberty. But home one comes out winner in tanking, it can Take a lot of Pain, with lib you can Just avoid those nasty arcs if flown correctly.
Sybreed 1,110 Posted December 2, 2016 I think Liberty is more straightforward to use. MC80 requires a bit more thought in the build and what you want it to do, but it's definitely a good ship. A potentially awesome tank if you want it to be.
