Rogue One .... Couldn't care less

Recommended Posts

So, my friend's all excited about Rogue One and bought me a ticket to opening day but I have no interest in seeing it. I'm a huge Star Wars fan (obviously since I'm here) and consider Force Awakens to be one of the top 3 SW movies of all time so I'm not some Disney hater. I just can't get excited for a prequel that, by definition, won't have anything happen of significance. We know that the Rebels get the plans and we know that none of the characters from this movie ever contribute to the Rebellion again (unless they make a Rogue Two).

My only hope is that we'll get some cool looking new ships for Armada and X-Wing. But that will happen regardless of whether or not I even see the movie.

I guess it's fair since I dragged this same friend to see Dr. Strange even though he didn't know or care who Dr. Strange was. [Pretty sure he'd rather it was a Dr. Who movie]. Also, for transparency, I only watched the first trailer. I avoid all trailers as, more often than not, they spoil the entire movie.

First off, thank you for using the proper phrasing of "couldn't care less" rather than "could care less" in your title.

Back to Rogue One, in my opinion the enjoyment of Rogue 1 is in the journey, not the destination. You are correct. We do know that the rebels will get the Death Star plans and that the Death Star will be destroyed. But I think Rogue One will be fun because we get to see just who it was that risked everything to get those plans and their story. We get to see what it took to steal the plans from the Empire and how they got in the hands of Princess Leia. We know how it all ends, but we've never (in this new canon) seen how it was all done. That's what makes Rogue One still interesting.

This... and the fact that it is a new Star Wars film!

All I can say is for visuals alone you should go see this in theaters at least once. First off it won't kill you. Secondly because of all the Original Trilogy material and styles involved as a huge SW fan you may really enjoy the movie. If you don't want to see it don't see it, even if everyone on this forum didnt the movie will be successful and the franchise won't be hurt, but as it's been ten years since the last stretch of time we got SW movies every other year you shouldn't miss out.

Just realize this is all SW fans will be talking about for another year so why not just be apart of the event? Treat this like a social gathering ontop of being a movie.

As much as I believe the Rogue team must be annihilated we don't know what any of the characters significance will be for the franchise. Maybe we'll see a few of them older in Episode eight or nine? I would actually not be surprised if this were the case.

After the last craptacular installment, I really couldn't care less either. Same recycled story with new special effects...........yawn................ Will watch it on tv to see what Donnie Yen does, otherwise,,,,,,,just hae zero interest.

In my opinion, Star Trek is kicking the dogsnot out of SW movies.

With its nothing going on if you're outside of the States?

Huh? Lol

Was the fact that, basically, there's no new ST movie going on right now, and the TV Series that's going on is -difficult- to access outside of the United States, even with the Webcasting feature.

That's all.

I for one am excited. I think this movie has a lot of potential to be one of the best SW films.

Star trek is doing something?

Boldly going somewhere.

I hope so. Star Trek and Star Wars are both two sides of a coin and honestly complement the other. It's like Marvel and DC. Marvel is comedic and more like a comic, light hearted and fun, while DC tries to be gritty and realistic.

Except DC movies do very poorly... I thought Suicide Squad was awful and didn't bother to see Batman vs Superman after what my friends told me. Marvel movies are pretty good most the time but seem to have lost their shiny new feeling with all the movies coming out.

I'm staying away from Marvel for the time being.

Deadpool was not as funny as I'd hoped.

Civil War was just horribly dull and lame.

Maybe Dr. Strange could be good... at least it has a good actor in it, but it looked too much like Batman Begins/Inception.

Maybe the 2nd Guardians will be nice. The first one was surprisingly enjoyable. I had less than 0 expectations for that one... a walking tree and a talking raccoon... yet somehow it worked.

Dr Strange was good, however, it reminded me of how Thor and Captain America were clearly set up movies to introduce the characters, rather than films in their own right. So next Dr Strange movie will be good!

DC do good tv programmes, Arrow, Flash, Legends are all decent. Marvels Jessica Jones is good to too. I fell asleep last time I watched Luke Cage...

Guardians of the Galaxy is the greatest movie this decade. (I am strongly influenced by film soundtracks)

Then I shall endeavor to see Dr. Strange.

Getting the plans for the Deathstar is pretty significant.

It fills in the blanks, it adds to the story.

I like WWII films.  I already know what happened.

We know that the Rebels get the plans and we know that none of the characters from this movie ever contribute to the Rebellion again (unless they make a Rogue Two).

How do you know that some of these characters weren't involved later on?  They could have been nameless fighter pilots that we see blow up in the Battle for Endor!  :-)

I'm going to the movie. The thing is, I'm just surprised that I don't even care if I see it. Maybe because I'm over Star Warsed. I've played X-Wing, Armada, SW Rebellion, SW Battlefront, Disney Infinity SW, all in the last year plus watching SW Rebels. The Rebellion Era is over exposed at this point.
