How to play a three player game without 2 coresets ?

Recommended Posts

Each additional core set has diminishing returns. The second core set gives you enough class cards to play 2 of each if you don't double up on classes and gives you enough of all neutral cards for 2 players (though you already will have enough of some neutrals with a single core set, such as flashlight). The third core set gives you enough neutrals for 3 players and let's you double up on classes to a limited degree for 2 players. The fourth core set allows you to double up on classes and guarantee you'll have enough core cards for 2 of each for each player. The downside to this plan is that expansions will still only give you 2 of each class card, so you'd have to buy 2 of each of them if you were really determined to double up on classes.

I'd recommend just getting 2 cores and dealing with the small restraints on your selections.

You only use a single set of the encounter cards, regardless of how many sets you own.

I would recommend staying with just 2 core sets.  It may be a bit tighter immediately, but as expansions come out the card pool will increase and overlapping spheres become easier to manage.

No - you do not add any of the extra treachery cards to the quest...  Those are all basically wasted paper...  You CAN however use them to create your own custom scenarios.  In LOTR there were a number of "fan quests" that players would create combining the existing quest deck options together in new ways, and creating custom paths to victory.  You could easily do the same here to personalize the game.

Thank you, you two  :)

I will stay with my two sets then and see what's coming up in the following expansions.

By the way Shosuko, you tell about "creating customs scenarios" that does interest me a few, how would you do that with Arkham ? Or is there a link you can provide me to just check how they did with LOTR LCG so I

can figure out by myself ?

Thanks again !

There's no rules on creating custom scenarios -- just do it! :) Sit down with the encounter sets you have access to, maybe make up locations (as the current locations are pretty set for a specific scenario), write your own Agendas and Acts, and go play!
