xuzuthor 10 Posted November 18, 2016 (edited) I've never lost the first scenario yet - I've played with Agnes 2 times (solo) and Roland once. I admit that I've had some fortunate draws with Agnes though, often getting exactly what I need when I need it, but I do make sure to draw a lot of cards to help speed her up to get the cards I need. One of the 2 times, I did not play with her recommended starter deck. I took out some of the cards I didn't like for her (removed knives, and a couple specialty cards that I wasn't using much) and replaced them with more neutral skill cards to help her draw the cards she wanted most even faster. Besides the knives, I did not remove many though. It did make her even more risky though as she has so few +damage assets. CommissarFeesh 458 Posted November 19, 2016 I tried Daisy solo. Everything WAS going fine... hoovering up clues like a boss, had Shrivelling in play, Tote bag and Old Book of Lore were down allowing me to get one free filtererd draw every turn. It all looked good. Then I pulled a -4 on a crucial Agility test (even after I committed Manual Dexterity). The result of that test was 3 damage, leaving me on 2 health I didn't last long after that - I had to venture into the Cellar where an Icy Ghoul waited for me. Tried evading it (no luck). Tried attacking with my knife - pulled the blue token which does one auto-damage if there's a ghoul at your location. And that was the end of my solo adventure Honestly though with a little better luck I think I'd have been fine - as it turns out the very next card on my deck was Research Assistant, which would have meant getting Medical Texts into play, which would have meant healing for me. Then it would have simply been a race against the Doom clock.

Dicetales 18 Posted November 19, 2016 Lost all 3 with Roland 1 core swopped out some yellow for unexpected courage just didn't get a gun when needed. I did beat senario 1 when learning the rules maybe. And 2 handed.. on to try others characters soon
Robin Graves 6,054 Posted November 20, 2016 I doubt highly that Agnes works too well solo, but the rest of them seem okay. Agnes can do just fine solo -- probably better than Daisy -- but both those fine ladies can really benefit from having a second core so as to get a few more spells and tomes in their decks. Admitedly I haven't played with her yet, but I found her lack of intelect dissapointing, Sometimes (it feels like) the game is a race to get the clues out before the doom fills up. And with only an intelect of two... That's why I like Roland: He has those seeker cards in his deck and if that fails he can always beat the clues out of the enemy. Robin Graves 6,054 Posted November 20, 2016 Dynamite blast has become my favorite card. Even if Roland doesn't seem to grasp the concept of throwing it at the enemy (other location) But so far it has always turned up at the critical moment to save the day: The gathering: blew up the ghoul priest. * The midnight mask: took of a big chunk of that masked stalker creep. The devourer below: Blew up 2 of Shub-nigguraths goat spawn in the ritual site giving us enough time to stop the ritual.* * Roland and Wendy also took 3 damage each, leaving them battered and , well, near death actually. Roland: "Here hold this while I strike a match, ok?"
Dicetales 18 Posted November 21, 2016 (edited) got a 1st scenario play of skids in today and whoo hes good , from my Wendy plays i knew i was digging my deck for burglary it took a while to appear! was was 5 doom in the the last agenda.. but it felt slick his deck is Rolands weapons with wendys resources hes a little lite of mind and invetigation but not to far out that a skill card or two can not help with.. 1st time ive had to reshuffle the hero deck.. for running out.. looking forward to chapter two think i got the worse weakness from him though amnisa discard all but 1 card! ugh! shosuko 2,174 Posted November 22, 2016 I think, with 2 core sets, all characters are well playable in solo environment. With just 1 core set you are dealing with 1 off of your best cards, so it is kinda random with anyone. You MAY get the card you need, you may not. Depends. In 2 player with 1 core set you have 2 people's chances to get some decent cards going, and I feel that carries well. 1 Dicetales reacted to this
