It's here, it's finally here! Election Day!

And still on CNN "that should be a democratic county" "this is a democratic area"

This is why she's failing; the supreme arrogance displayed in the traditional political thinking while Trump has mobilized the angry, ignored masses. It's not new, it has been done countless times before. I've seen it in my own country, since 2004. It happened in Argentina with Peron, Republican Rome with the Populares, it happened in Italy and Germany, Portugal and Spain, with resurgences currently in France and the UK, amongst others, from hypernationalism to fascism, the methods are basically the same.

I can't believe Trump is leading in Utah. Granted, only 25% of the votes are in, but he's more than double the votes of Hillary or McMullin. I thought there wasn't a prayer that he could win Utah. I thought Hillary actually stood a better chance in Utah than Trump.

Decades of cross Atlantic alliance just started to wobble.

Korea and Japan sure got shaky.

Iran was contained on the nuclear proliferation.

Who knows what will happen with Ukraine and Syria.

And that is the international stuff, which will put US armed forces in harm's way, but also will have its effect on the economy.

Then there's all the local legislative stuff, all the civil rights. The next 4 years will be a huge rush to ensure that as many people as possible will lose the right or possibility to vote and lock this for a generation.

I am really tired right now. The way our societies evolve right now isn't even shocking to me anymore, merely exhausting. This isn't the world that was starting to form when I grew up, it might be lost.

I want humanity to evolve, to get beyond conflicts of nationality, religion and race, to even conquer the galaxy, but we will never find out if thats even possible, since no one even dares suggesting to try.

It is the triumph of resentment. The disdain of expertise, the lauding of ignorance and apathy.

Well said.  Apparently politics is the only profession where qualifications and experience is a bad thing.  Clinton was arguably the most qualified candidate the US has ever had.  But the uneducated masses have gone for the serial adulter, tax dodger, multiple bankrupted, sexist, misogynist, racist "businessman".

Slow clap America... Good luck.  You (and the rest of us) are going to need it!

Its been lesser of two evils for several elections but this one is just abysmal.

I think that to a point the lesser of two evils has been overdone...   Everyone since and including Regan, at least had something positive to say about themselves in their campaign.  I mean put policy aside they at least ran on more than the idea they should win because they're were better than the other guy.

This time, and not just the presidential race it's all about how the other guy sucks so you should vote for me.

The cynic in me says that the make it hard because they don't want the poor and working class to have an impact.

That has a lot to do with old laws and a somewhat cynical view that people are afraid to change any sort of voting law because it may hurt their side.

The Tuesday thing comes from a time when farmers couldn't make it to the nearest town and back in a single day so they couldn't do it on Saturday, and people generally didn't travel on Sunday. Tuesday early Nov is normally past the harvest time so farmers could take off a few days.

But it's interesting to note that Trump is the only one that I know of to suggest that election day become a national holiday so people can vote more easily.

That was actually part of Sanders program ;-)

The whole Sanders program read more or less like some sprinkles of social democratic concept, pretty standard western european stuff. Sad that he did not make it.

On the plus side, you finally got an working administration with the two houses and the president all GOP. Theoretical a lot of work can be done.

Hopefully Trump won't block reasonable things in order to press through his unreasonable ideas. And hopefully the other institutions will be strong enough to block those!

Now I don't want to see Trump dead, but if you speak of hope and good things than Pence would be a lot more useful as president than Trump himself. Could he just quit and let Pence takeover?
