Gadge 4,294 Posted November 14, 2016 (edited) The only people who really call me by my christian name at birth are people who meet me in situations like bank interviews. To everyone else i'm gadge is they know me, Mr Harvey if they don't and in a few other jobs in the past 'sir' or by my rank Like i say, my mum calls me Gadge! Thats where it all started. i did have a phase a few years back of asking very close friends to call me by my christian name as I was really well known on certain music and festival scenes and i was getting a bit sick of my name (as in Gadge being attributed to a lot of stuff i simply hadnt done, been involved in or wanted to be associated with.. scene politics and all that) but it never really stuck. They were all far too used to calling my Gadge. Like if you read the synopsis of this back issue of my magazine i'm assistant editor on you can see that my articles come under 'Gadge Harvey' as my writing credits. At some point i should just get my name legally changed but there seems little point tbh as its so rare i get called by my christian name. edit: helps if i actually link to a back issue... https://www.magzter.com/GB/Calibre-Publishing-Limited/Airsoft-Action/Men's-Interest/123456 Edited November 15, 2016 by Gadge 2 Darth Tam and Budgernaut reacted to this
RC 1162 17 Posted November 15, 2016 Thought I was putting in Scorch's number from Republic Commando. Turns out it's 1262, even though Boss is 1138. Because reasons. 2 Darth Tam and Budgernaut reacted to this
incinerator950 387 Posted November 15, 2016 I'm terrible naming things. It's actually so bad at times half of my character creation time isn't on faces, it's the **** name. It took me an hour to come up with a new Dunmer in Skyrim, and I cheated and used a name generator. Want to know how long it took for inci? Hour and a half and a randomizer because Incinerator was taken. I ever make the mistake of breeding, someone else can do the naming. Now I came up with a new name like Kyranthesis and Volsilaag, but it's like sacrificing infants and trying not to roll 1s. 2 Gadge and Darth Tam reacted to this
Gadge 4,294 Posted November 15, 2016 (edited) Star Wars names are easy to generate. I've found food/dishes from the local Indian restaurant sound oddly star wars, as so the odd medication names. For example Keema Naan, rebel pilot Saag Aloo, Jedi Rogan Josh, Bounty Hunter edit: in the old RPG i had a rebel called 'Dak Tarin' which is an anti fungal cream i think Edited November 15, 2016 by Gadge 3 Darth Tam, Dagonet and heychadwick reacted to this
DanDoulogos 753 Posted November 18, 2016 My first name is Dan, but the word Doulogos was a name I created back in 2005 for my current blog. Its a hash of two Koiné Greek words, Doulos (δοῦλος) and Logos (λόγος). Had my understanding of Greek compound words been a little more developed at the time, I would have correctly combined the words to form the properly formed compound "Doulologos" - but I didn't realize that until after I had been using the name for a while. People in the know assumed I was being "clever" but very few people reading an English blog are in the know when it comes to Koiné Greek. Either way, I have used Doulogos now for a dozen years or so, and because it is an .... innovative?... spelling, it makes it much easier to find me on the internet - and I've come to like it. 1 Darth Tam reacted to this

Malasombra 422 Posted November 24, 2016 I first used this for a vampire in Madrid in a Vampire: The masquerade game i was the DM. Shortly i decided it was way cooler than my usual nickname for the interwebs, and adopted it. In spanish is a quite old world for defining a mean person. But i'm very nice I just think it sounds cool in spanish. Literally is badshadow in english. 1 Darth Tam reacted to this
fistfulofforce 394 Posted November 24, 2016 (edited) Back in the Republic days I used to try and wield my force ability to beat out all my friends. One time Jedi Master Obi-Wan came by to watch us train at the Jedi Temple and I knew it was my chance to shine. During an exercise with another padawan I used all my ability to knock my opponent down with a force blast. I failed, missed my challenger and hit Obi-Wan. He stood in shock and said "Young padawan maybe one day you will learn to wield that fist full of force." Back then all my friends decided to call me that, I hated it. Not soon after I left to go visit home, that's when the temple was destroyed. The name is now a badge of Honor. I'm not sure what to do now although I keep hearing about this group of people that come from all over joining together to fight. I think I may join this group "The Rebel Alliance" or something if I can find them. Got to go and get out of here Imperials are searching people looking for sympathizers. May the force be with you. He spends his free time searching for those rebel scum! And now I want to read these. As for the username, I just always used my name online. I mean, if my parents were cool enough to give me a nice science-y name why not use it? I tried just regular Kelvin but it was taken, so I put a "One" in front; firstly because it's kind of like saying "The genuine first, real, and one-of-a-kind Kelvin as opposed to all those fake Kelvins who are just doing it to be cool.", and secondly because when using Kelvin as a temperature there are no degrees. For example, if I said that it's "one Kelvin outside" that would be correct from a grammatical standpoint. (It would be strange that the outside area was for some reason 1.7 K colder than the empty vacuum of space itself, but the grammar holds nonetheless.) 1 Darth Tam reacted to this

I never said I was good at it. haha Awwwwww. Shucks. Well, someone has to do some Noir now. "The Dame was green, real green. I hadn't seen a girl that green since before the war, but then again I never got out much. She had an envelope for me, said it was important; a matter of life and death. I told the blinds to shut and slid the holo-recorder out onto my desk. It was small, a cheap tinnium thing that had clearly seen better days. I set it flat on the blotter and played the last recorded message. From what I could tell, between the flickering and the static, a young boy had gone missing. The woman in the hologram said she was his mother; that he had gotten in deep with this Defel thug staying at the spaceport. Seems the Def was recruiting for some rebels near Onderon and spun a few stories of heroics and adventure. The kid had bitten; hook, line, everything. If I didn't find him soon he was set for a life on the run, outside the protection of the Empire. I didn't yet know how the Dame figured into all of this: maybe she was a girlfriend, a big sister type. Didn't like not knowing my employer, but her credits were good. I slid her chip, and waited till door shut behind her before I pulled my blaster out of the drawer. I checked the gas level, lowered the lights, picked up my hat - and was out in the rain before the service droid could wish me "Safe Journeys"." "Oh, and I was a chainsmoker who drank a lot and didn't own a razor worth a soggy credit. Make sure you get that in there too." 1 Trevor Goodchild reacted to this
