Monthly tourneys in DC

The DC meta is starting up monthly tourneys; below is the schedule for the following months. The first date shall be considered set in stone; those thereafter, probable but tentative.

Tourney #1: Sunday, January 24; 12:00p, GWU Ivory Tower (606 23rd St NW, Washington, DC 20037)
Tourney #2: Sunday, February 21
Tourney #3: Sunday, March 21
Tourney #4: Sunday, April 18

Tournament details (changed a bit from last time):
-- Joust
-- For Tourney #1, card pool through the Martell expansion; for all tourneys thereafter, we'll add any chapter packs released in the calendar month prior. (That is to say, I'm not following the two-weeks-before legality rule.)
-- 4 games with 16 or fewer players (most likely the case), 5 games with 17+
-- Default starting time is 12:00p. Flexible if, say, a majority would prefer it to be slightly earlier, or pledged attendees from out of town would prefer it slightly later.
-- Default location is the GWU Ivory Tower. Out of towners, send something to my gmail account (eabutzlaff) and I'll help arrange getting into the city.
-- I'd like to host future tourneys in sourthern MD if possible to make it easier for those coming from the north (DE/PA Meta in particular). Prospective locations must be near a Metro station. Location suggestions most welcome minding those considerations.
-- Looking into prizes; glass possible/probable.
-- Results shall be posted to the internets, including decklists any of you care to submit (not mandatory).
-- Results will be integrated into the agotny.net rankings system

In the future, I'd like to explore alternate tourney formats; maybe a melee tournament on an off weekend, or a joust "partners" or "team" tournament of some sort (which I would try to draw out-of-towners in for, get extra prize support, etc.)

Of course, feel welcome to forward this on to your metas if you have your own mailing lists; I'm hoping to get you out-of-towners to show up in time, so let me know what I can do to accommodate or otherwise lure you folk nearby.

I'm just picking-up A Game of Thrones, and live in Falls Church - any activity in the D.C. area with this series?

Boy, did you wind up in the right city for AGOT   We have a large meta, and we just decided on meeting up across the street from the Chinatown Metro station every other Tuesday night after work. We play occasionally on weekends, too, and we travel to tournaments frequently. Why don't you send me an email; I'll give you the rest of the details that way: eabutzlaff / gmail

our group is big enough that players are starting to meet up to play outside our large gatherings, too. there are a couple players who live in alexandria; some of us live downtown, some at the northern end of the green line. have you bought any product yet, or have you played with anyone else?

I've played one and a half games, but just with the Core Set and three players per game.
