"Pull over!", and "It's not obsolete, it's vintage"

Recommended Posts

So 2 squad lists I'm mulling over:

"Pull Over!"

Asajj Ventress (37)
Push the Limit (3)
Dengar (3)
Gyroscopic Targeting (2)
Shadow Caster (3)

Hired Gun (20)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Overclocked R4 (1)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Hired Gun (20)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Overclocked R4 (1)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Total: 100

Ideally this list grabs the thing it hates and if it can't shoot it do death right away, it does a pretty good job of keeping it close to shoot next turn.

"It's not obsolete, it's vintage"

Thane Kyrell (26)
Weapons Engineer (3)
M9-G8 (3)
Alliance Overhaul (0)

Gray Squadron Pilot (20)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Gray Squadron Pilot (20)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Tala Squadron Pilot (13)
Ion Pulse Missiles (3)
Guidance Chips (0)

Total: 100

So I reckon that Thane here effectively predators 6 attacks a turn if I can line 'em up right. As the Y's die he can move the locks to his enemies. One thing i don't like about this list is that thane's pilot ability is effectively blank unless Thane bumped or my opponent is PS 3 or lower (4 if I took initiative). If they are that low he can move the target locks to ships that haven't fired yet, and spend his action next turn moving them back to the Y's.

Edit: I put the tala in there to trail and try and land the Ion on pesky aces. I could drop it to a bandit with no missiles and give thane seismic torpedoes and vectored thrusters. Thoughts?

Unfortunately there's no window between when the warthogs are gonna shoot and when thane is. I guess I could drop them to golds instead of greys and set it up with thane locking the tala and an enemy, then move it to the warthogs if my opponent lets me. Or I could get the tala to shoot dengar/quickdraw. That'd be funny.

Ion Pulse with Blount is nice, but Soontir is gonna just fly as far away from that as he can. Keeping them as Greys is probably worthwhile. Also keep in mind that you can't perform the same action once in a single round, so you'll need to get the locks on the Y-wings before you enter combat.

As far as the first list goes: First, K4 is actually arguably better than Dengar on a PTL Shadowcaster due to the ridiculous amount of green in the dial. Second, get TLTs in there. ICTs are fun and all but if you want damage output at any kind of decent range TLT is the way to go. (They also synergyze beautifully with tractor beam tokens as the agility is reduced for both attacks). If the meta is Uboat heavy drop either the Unhinged Astros or Gyroscopic Targeting; otherwise, drop the Hired Guns to Syndicate Thugs and add BMSTs and Rigged Cargo Chutes to Ventress.

Definitely keep them as Gray Squadron - because you're not saving enough by dropping their PS to get a much better ship.

If you've got a TLT-equipped, BTL-A4 Y-wing, though, my brain suggests equipping one with R3-A2. A stresshog is nice, but a stresshog who can actually hit someone is doubly useful....

Always wondered if alpha strike named ys could pick up some slack v uboats

Horton protorps hit a like a runaway freighter and protorps chips sorta emulate torp scout offense

Given how little I feel z95s ever accomplish, I'd go that route with the "obsolete" list

You can get

TLT Horton protorps chips

TLT dutch protorps chips

And r3a2 proton chips thane

Sadly no double stress potential :(

Plasmas on thane would accomplish about the same but sadly not enough points for tactician

When I re-buy the transport, or if I'm just dicking around casually, i'll put R3-a2 in my lists. Until then, I have to build with stuff that wasn't in my binder at the time it got stolen.

So no R3a2, no R5-P9, no palpatine....
