Angroth 9 Posted September 12, 2016 (edited) Hey everyone. Just getting back to Armada on a competitive level. I plan this to be my future Go-to List. It has a lot of options to interrupt my opponents plans with the G-8 Projector and the Slicer-Flottilla as well as early game disturbance through Admiral Titus. The Squadrons are also particularly powerful and inspired by the US Nationals winner. Overall this list has a lot of flexibility - offensive capability with Squadrons and the Gladiator as well as defensive prowess with the repair flottilla and perma - shields through wulff yularen and projection experts. Finally, the list is capable of disrupting other lists with the aforementioned upgrades. I very much like it. What do you think? What would you change? Englishpete 1,379 Posted September 12, 2016 As is, your Interdictor won't be passing many shields off as it won't be able to keep up with your other ships without severely hampering your movement. Maybe look at dropping the Gladiator and bringing in a VSD-I in its place. Then drop the G-8 and add a Targeting Scrambler. It gives your opponent some hard choices in what to kill first as both your main ships can mitigate quite a lot of damage per turn
AndySan 0 Posted September 12, 2016 This is a similar idea to my "Tankerdictor" build with changes suggested in comments to my thread. The GSD and interdictor cover multiple bases, but have a hard time working together. As much as I'd like to make a more unique list work, I keep coming back to pairing the 'dictor with a VSD in this list as Englishpete suggested. pyqz 200 Posted September 12, 2016 I'd switch the Interdictor to a suppression refit and drop the projection experts for a G7 to limit their ability to deploy against the Demolisher, especially with Fleet ambush. I don't think the combat refit is really worth the points. I think G8 is good in this fleet, especially if you're going second. I might suggest doubling down on the movement control with a tractor beam to help pin things in place for the Demolisher to blow away. 1 Angroth reacted to this
BrobaFett 4,209 Posted September 12, 2016 I ran this set up almost exactly, switching you fighter cover for a more traditional fireball, and found mixed results. Against medium based ships it does extremely well, but against large based ships the damage just didn't stack up fast enough. An opponent ran a similar build but swapped an ISD for the Gladiator and did much better than me as the dictor and ISD compliment each other better. You can march them side by side right at an enemy and have great success. One thing I can say, however, is that G-8 is going to be less helpful overall than Targeting Scramblers, so I would make that swap and if you feel good about the rest of the set up then go get some table practice and see what you think. Angroth 9 Posted September 13, 2016 (edited) Thank you all for your replies. Pete and AndySan - I think that the list as it is already makes it hard to decide on whom to shoot first. The Gladiator is the immediate threat but can be repaired and re-shielded and will be obstructed.. The Interdictor should be the main target but can pack a lot of punch not only because of Admiral Motti. The Gozantis are also a nuisance. I would say the Dictor has to be primaried, but that gives the gladiator free reign. BrobaFett - I would love to have an ISD in the list. I love how they look and what they play like. The changes you suggest make me think of making a new list with these inspirations. For my list I am sure I need the G8 and the Gladiator. The warning that the Interdictor will not be able to keep up is important. I will have to pay attention to that during setup. Also I am aware of the threat huge ships pose. It will be interesting to see how I do against them. Pyqz - This is a devastatingly good suggestion. The G-2 will make Fleet Ambush so much more dangerous. I rebuilt the list with regards to some of your suggestions. The Tractor Beam would be a great addition as well but I cannot see where to get the points without weakening the other parts of the fleet so much that they do not function as intended.
