Dedmanzhand 258 Posted September 10, 2016 Hi all. I'm new around here, but wanted to show off one of my recent birthday presents from the wife. How cool will that look on the edge of a gaming table! 6 Green Knight, Flengin, Robin Graves and 3 others reacted to this

Dedmanzhand 258 Posted September 10, 2016 Haha, I inherited the paints from my Dad who was a keen aircraft modeler. There are a lot more than that in my loft. I never knew there probably IS 50 shades of grey! 1 Vykes reacted to this

Dedmanzhand 258 Posted September 13, 2016 Am tempted to paint it and highlight the surface details, then find some way of making the weapon part glow green...

Great shout on the clear green paint, thanks! It doest do a very good job as a lamp, so might as well play on the novelty factor instead.
Mad Cat 2,250 Posted September 14, 2016 I would do a test first on a small area you know you will later overpaint grey. You need to know how thick to apply the green so you get the right amount showing through. If you only apply the green in the needed areas then the rest of the model with be the clear frosted plastic under your grey paint outer coat. I wonder if you could then create tiny pinpricks in the paint in neat rows along the panels to allow white light to escape and look like rows of lights. Will try that first, then I have a 0.3mm or 0.5mm drill bit and hand drill if not effective. Bit more effort going into this now than I originally planned, haha
BrobaFett 4,209 Posted September 14, 2016 If you jump into the mods take pictures along the way so we can see glorious progress. If you don't and decide to leave your kickass lamp just the way it is since why risk ruining a good thing, that is ok too, thanks for sharing either way. You have managed to make me very jealous.
