arvidos2 0 Posted December 23, 2009 Just to get this absolutely clear: -Can I spend several Fate Points on a single test? For instance, I spend two Fate Points to recieve a +20 bonus, and one Fate Point to reroll. [Page 233]-Seeing as Navigators make a Toughness Test to resist mutation, can I spend Fate Points on that test just as I would with any test? [Page 182] Thanks! Hodgepodge 0 Posted December 23, 2009 It is a Test, and so you can use a fate point to reroll it. However, the results of Tests rerolled using Fate Points are final. There's nothing preventing you from spending more than one Fate Point on a test in different ways, but as usual, you'd have to spend the Fate Point to get a +10 bonus before any of the dice are rolled. The wording on rerolling a Test also means that, strictly read, you cannot use a Fate Point to add a further degree of success to a successful role. Note that your test to resist mutation is Ordinary (+10), unless you are from a Magisterial House (in which case it is Routine (+20)) or a Renegade House (in which case it is Challenging (+0)). Just in case you missed that.

As I read it: There are no limits on how many fatepoints you can use on a test. It is a Free Action and the only limit to Free Actions is how much a GM thinks is reasonable. So you can first spend two Fate Points to receive a +20 bonus and then a third to reroll if needed. A Fate point can be used to reroll a failed test. Including a Toughness Test to resist Mutation and if those fails, perhaps it is time to burn a Fate Point.
