Destiny Play mat from Gencon?

If the games is successful I know they will make play mats for it, but I was curious about that huge oversized play mat used at Gencon. Is there a way to get my hands on one of those? Does FFG give them away for anything? Just curious to see if anyone had any info. Thanks

To my knowledge, no they did not give those away. My friends and I tried to get the Hand of the King demo mat, and despite the fact that we have some rapport with some FFG employees due to being involved in other games competitivly for so long, it didn't happen. Maybe it was just us unsuccessful in that.

If anyone got them it would probably be the demo'ers.

I could see them eventually making a similar mat for sale though. Probably even the same graphics just shrunk down/compacted. They have 2-player mats like these for sale for most of their other games.

I understand what you mean, however, the huge oversized mat would be perfect for the table I play games on at home. I have no doubt they will do regular sized plat mats for destiny.

I thought that as well, that those who ran the demo might get them but then again maybe not. will FFG run more demos before release?

I do not know myself because I wasn't at Gencon but in the Covenant video he actually makes a comment on the play mat how nice it is. I could be wrong and its not a mat at all lol

They also have bigger ones like death star and star field in the store. I was looking for the destiny one specifically. I am considering getting one of these oversized ones but I am biding my time.

I like plain simple designed playmats, I think massive pictures and artwork distract from the cards sometimes. I want to get one that's just a black mat with a starfield for this game, I found one awhile when I got into the Star Wars LCG but never got around to buying it, I'll have to track it down.

Here's a good compromise -- so long as your table is 3' x 3'.

 

I have two of these for Armada. One would work well that both players can share for Destiny.  It's a simple design, not too "busy" or distracting.

Looks and feels amazing in person, however.

I don't know how I feel about the rounded corners though... for destiny it might be ok, but I know for Armada rounded corners would be a deal breaker for me.
