Soryn's somewhat rambling speach did the job, rallying the republic militia.

And not a moment too soon. As the first B1 and B2 droids approach the shield, a pair of Vulture droids land just outside the shield and push through, firing chin guns as they walk on 4 "legs" into the base. soldiers try to shift defence guns to cover this intrusion, but the Vultures make  point of picking off the guns that can hurt them.

 

(vultures are long range from the 2 jedi and their group of 20 militia. If you need a recap of the squad rules, ask in the OOC)

(Reminder that Vehical Scale nerf is in effect- the difference is x5 not x10, but the vehicals have doubled hull and system strain)

Tessrah knowing that running with a lightsaber into a horse of droids was a good way to commit suicide she looked for a practical weapon. (flip 1 destiny point) she finds a missile tube ready for use. she picks up the launcher aiming at the closest vulture Droid taking a shot.

She pulls the trigger a missile flies through the air striking the vulture Droid

(you need to spend 2 strain to burn off the Prepare's required maneuver, but that's easy enough.)

 

The struck vulture staggers, then turns to look directly at you, one eye meltd by the blast, the other glowing red. As you dive aside with jedi reflexes, it sprays incredibly powerful laserfire where you were standing, debris flying through the air. Several of the troopers near you arnt nearly so lucky.

 

Autoblaster vs Tess's minion group: 2eA+2eP+3eD 1 success, 2 advantage

25 personal scale damage, 5 soak, 5 wounds each...

4 troopers are down, Tess gets a black die next round as she recovers from her dodge. 16 troopers remain

Vulture 2 is covering elsewhere inside the shield dome.

Droid troops will reach the base in 4 minutes. Troops are calling for heavy support to deal with the fighter-walkers.

As the demo team retreats from the advance position, Dera spots a few repulsor platforms rising from behind the rockfall, and as the group is about to round the corner, they see two B2 Super Battledroids walk through the hole in the tunnel wall left by the collapsed rock bridge.

Scrambling for cover as the hail of blaster fire turns the ground he had just been standing on to mulch and craters, Soryn yells over the sound of battle, trying desperately to be heard over the relentless pounding of the guns. 

"Focus your fire on the damaged Vulture! That gun will make short work of the base defenses if we let is continue like this! The infantry units can be dealt with as the second priority!" More blaster fire sprayed across the area, and it became clear that it wasn't going to be so easy.

Drawing on the Force, the Pau'an let it guide him, trusting to it rather than relying on the chaos of images his senses were presenting. Getting through this day alive was going to prove something of a miracle, but he had seen amazing things happen in the past. Keeping the soldiers and other Padawans safe was his goal, and if he had to lay down his life to do so, he would. 

Resting his left hand on his lightsaber, the gaunt boy marks the distance from cover to cover, readying himself for the dash. "As soon as I move, target and destroy the Vulture Droid! If I can draw its fire, you will have a momentary opening!" he yells to the soldiers around him, waiting for them to nod or call back their agreement. 

Bracing himself, Soryn launches forward, running at top speed in a perpendicular line from the damaged starfighter droid. Zigzagging between obstacles, the Pau'an does his best to keep himself covered.

Tessrahs prepared a 2nd shot seeing her first hit home. "okay Tess they are counting on you."

She sighted the vulture Droid again waiting for the green lock a steady beep gave the clear and she pulled the trigger. The Missle made a bolt toward the Droid strikeing it again.

Dera stops and raises a hand. "Wait! Kor, Vyrr—look. B2s. Two of them." She points in the direction of the droids, then draws her saber. She starts running again, more quickly than before, and ignites her saber as she goes.

Kor turns to see the two B2's entering from the site of the cave in he draws and ignites his Lightsaber. "Dera I'm right behind you, Vyrr cover us I have a feeling these won't be the only two battle droids today." Kor rushes the B2's along with Dera holding his Lightsaber ready to strike out.

The second missile strikes the walker in a leg, staggering it, but as she reaches for the next missile, she finds the hopper empty (3 threat-Out of Ammo). Unsteady, the wounded Droid sprays more laserfire across the courtyard. (1 setback to next mass combat check, plus an attack on it's turn)

Soryn is at Medium range from the droids. As he runs, an AT-TE steps out of a nearby hanger, trying to swing it's cannon to engage the droids,  but a wild shot from the unsteady vulture drops the building on it. The second droid identifies the AT-TE as the largest remaining threat, opening fire with it's own weapon...

Autoblaster vs Soryn's AT-TE: 2eA+2eP+2eD 2 failures, 3 advantage

The crew of the tank try to dislodge some of the rubble, but the two vultures are keeping them pinned down, unable to free themselves.

Without wasting words, Vyrr runs behind cover and tries to aim at the droids.

 

In haste, he shoots the droid that is situated further from the group, and manages to score a fairly solid hit with the rifle.

 

Manoeuvre: Take cover

Manoeuvre (at the cost of 2 Strain): Aim

Action: Attack

 

Shooting the furthermost droid: 4eA+1eB+2eD 4 successes, 2 advantage

 

Result: 13 damage before Soak.

I spend 1 Advantage to give a Boost to the next PC, and 1 Advantage to heal 1 Strain.

Kor charges in ready to strike he brings his Lightsaber up above his head to strike at the B2 Vyrr didn't shoot at.

Lightsaber Check: 1eP+3eA+1eB+2eD 6 successes, 1 advantage

Kor crashes into the the B2 saber first, his strength focused into the attack.

Both B2's are still up, though the saber did more to it.

 

Derra and the demolition minion group are still up. If someone wants to roll for them, their range heavy is currently GGYY

 

Tess: unfortunately, all the easy weapons are damaged or disabled by this point. The clone tank shold be able to defeat both easilly, but it's currently out of action. The real problem, though, is the advancing droid army- the guns that should be decimating them have other things on their minds.

Dera lets Kor take the lead, and she takes full advantage of the opening he gives her. She was trained to analyze her opponents, after all, and she can see exactly where to strike. She adjusts her course slightly, aiming herself at its weak point. Lightsaber held chest-height and horizontal, she slams into the droid with both saber and body, knocking the already unbalanced B2 to the ground. Rather than follow it down, she half-twists, half-leaps away from the toppled machine. She hits the ground behind the battle droids, still on her feet, saber returned to a defensive position.

Panting slightly, she takes a step back, once again watching for the right moment to strike.

2 maneuvers to engage the droids. Dera is now at 4/15 strain.

Stabbity stab: 2eA+1eP+1eB+2eD+1eS 1 success, 2 advantage

7 damage minus soak, and critical!

Crit on droid: 1d100 42

Droid is knocked prone, and takes one strain/wound, depending on whether it's a full Nemesis or just a Rival.

Tessrah seeing that without a sizeable weapon their chances of winning would decrease. She almost wanted to curse the person in charge of weapons deployment having so few heavy weapons and persons able to use them seriously left this base easy to overrun. She saw the at-et that may be able to be freed by a few cuts of a lightsaber. If that could get operational then they might increase their chances of winning the day.

Dera and Kor cripple and then destroy one Super Battle Droid, but Vyrr and the demlition team fail to penetrate the other droid's heavy armor before it could clear the doorway, firing it's arm-mounted Repeating Blaster into the jedi.

Honestly, you get all excited about being away from your Master for a time and then you struggle to act independently. Get it together, Soryn Velk. Show these people how a Jedi is meant to lead.

The voice in his head spurs the Pau'an into action. There's no time to dither during a firefight, and people die from inaction. The Vulture Droid continues to rampage, and the lack of ordinance from the AT-TE worries the Padawan. I've no idea how to use the weapons on that contraption, but if I can buy time, perhaps Tessrah or the crew can get it operational again, he think to himself as he peeks over the small amount of cover he has been afforded. "Well, as she always says, use what you have!" he finishes out loud. 

Sprinting from cover, zigzagging across the open ground, the lanky boy gives himself over to the Force, letting it flow through him; but feels a momentous pull from the Dark Side. 
 

Leaping onto the Vulture Droid: 2eF 3 Dark Side

Rocketing into the air, Soryn angles himself to land on the Vulture, well out of the way of its guns. He lands with a small thud, the speed at which he was flying stopped suddenly by the cold, hard metal of the droid. "Why, hello there!" he says, directly into its eye. 

Flipping a Destiny Point it seems!

Thick load-bearing girders have wedged between the walker's foreleg and the turret barrel, while the armored roof collapsed atop the tank, pinning it in place. While less durable than the battlewalker's armor, the collapsed building is quite large and heavy- you cannot lift it in one piece.
