MC-80 Battle Group

I was never a fan of the 2 ship build, especially for Rebels but with the release of Liberty I just wanted to give it a try.

 

It may not be uber competitive but it might just work if flown well.

I run dual MC80s (Home One) on a consistent basis and they do fine.

I would consider Spinal Armament on the Mon Karren over Enhanced Armament.

Personally, even with 2 ships, Ackbar doesn't seem to be needed. He doesn't jive with the liberty either (even with enhanced). I would consider Dodonna (with XX-9s on Mon Karren) or Madine.

Keep the home one style close enough and he can cover both flanks - obstructed is only one dice less. 5 dice - 7 with Ackbar, is perfectly fine for blowing up sneaky flanking attackers.

I'm a big fan of lists like these, but I'm still unsure how effective they will be in competitive play.  Can you guys see this?

This is something that I've been developing.

 

Ideally, this list runs Sato, but currently Madine is a good replacement because of all the craziness he can do with Nav.

 

There's no subtlety with this list, it's all about dishing out big damage with no inbetweens.

I'm not sure you need MK, XI7 and XX9 on the Lib. I'd drop XI7, XX9 and medical team to give you 12 points, buy another medium transport and change the 3 YT2400's to 4 Awings to be activated by the transports.

Since the Liberty is going to be a prime target (especially its sides) I wonder if Projection Experts on the Assault Cruiser will extend the life of the battlegroup as a whole?  I'll be trying this out...

I refined my list to be an all out killing list and bought 2 Liberty class MC-80's. The list is light on fighters, but they won't be of running around, they'll work in close aiding the two Battle Cruisers if fighters close in. This is not a list that flies the edges of the map, this list comes at you guns blazing and continues firing as it passes through and starts it's swing to turn. Slow rolling until the side arcs are brought to bare alone, then she starts her turns.

I don't think anything will extend the life of this thing.  The 2 shields is just incredibly underwhelming, and no defensive slot to make sure Redir is a sure thing.

 

That's why I've packed mine to just do as much damage as possible because I know his life with be finite.
