That is a very unpleasant list you have there as catching it with anything is going to prove very tough.

When I reference DtO this is the list I speak of. Well prior versions had 1 less activation but 3x TRC90's

Once Hero posts his list i'll fill in for biggs and do a write up. Unless he steps in and says he'd like to do it, in which case I defer to his mustachoid magnificence.

Edit: for those just joining us, its on pg 3

And Lyr's list is a fun one to play against.  Did so in round 3 of the tournament. I'd love a rematch ... hint hint Lyr :-)

You can have one ^_^

I love this list but it makes me a raging Ahole late at night when I start making stupid avoidable mistakes. Well. . .I guess it does whenever I make stupid mistakes :P

Lyr, you better hope HERO doesn't deploy in a way you aren't used to.

It could happen but thanks to ArmadaJim I have learned a few great lessons!

ACKBAR THE DEPRESSOR

Author: HERO

Faction: Rebel Alliance

Points: 382/400

Commander: Admiral Ackbar

Assault Objective: Custom Objective

Defense Objective: Custom Objective

Navigation Objective: Custom Objective

[ flagship ] MC80 Command Cruiser (106 points)

-  Admiral Ackbar  ( 38  points)

-  Home One  ( 7  points)

-  Intel Officer  ( 7  points)

-  Engine Techs  ( 8  points)

-  Electronic Countermeasures  ( 7  points)

-  X17 Turbolasers  ( 6  points)

-  Leading Shots  ( 4  points)

= 183 total ship cost

Assault Frigate Mark II B (72 points)

-  Gunnery Team  ( 7  points)

-  Electronic Countermeasures  ( 7  points)

-  X17 Turbolasers  ( 6  points)

= 92 total ship cost

CR90 Corvette A (44 points)

-  Jainas Light  ( 2  points)

-  Turbolaser Reroute Circuits  ( 7  points)

= 53 total ship cost

2 YT-2400s ( 32 points)

2 A-Wing Squadrons ( 22 points)

This is my exact Wave 2 list for the most part, followed by a conversation I had with MattShadowlord about A-Wings+YTs.  And I really miss having Jaina's Light, so there she is vs. the Bright Hope.

You can find out more about how this list performs here.

Edit: Changing name upon request.

This will be fun. I dont have control of initiative. . . the question is, does HERO want me to pick his Advanced Gunnery or not. . . hmmmm

I'm biased for MC80s so I'm pulling for the big fish.

Home One Ackbar lists also tend to tear apart flotillas and the tractor beams might be wasted points but that's a pretty steep activation advantage. A lot is going to depend on the opening rounds of fire.

I'd go with Lyr's list 10 times out of 10.

Reasoning : no squadrons!   High Activations!

Only problem is all those initiative bids!   You can fit so many more upgrades!

This is exactly why I NEVER skip on upgrades in favor of an initiative bid, it's never a sure thing and there's a 50/50 chance you end up getting what you want regardless.  Either way - I'm a big fan of lists with a large number of activations.  Pretty clever to put Phylon on the GR-75s.

It can go either way and will ultimately be a test of skill. The way I see it, with activation advantage Lyr has the potential to get one free round of TRC shooting as well as staying in the front arc of one of the ships. However Gunnery team with a free accuracy (and XI7) can end up being pretty deadly. So it'll come down to positioning, navigation and luck (given that AF can't modify rolls).

Look, I am just going to come out and say what we are all thinking. HERO is a fake internet person that Lyraeus has crafted over the last 5 years so he could "beat" him in a game of Armada and therefore gain acclaim and adoration for his Dodonna the Oppressor list.

Sheesh.  Talk about transparent.

Sheesh.  Talk about transparent.

5 years? Yeesh. . . I was in the military then playing 40k. . . I was on Dakkadakka at that time.

You have the right of it. I am going in expecting to lose both the MC30's but objective wise, I will have fun with it. I have extreme activation advantage and those YT2400's just wont be enough I don't think.

Ackbar Whale is a tough nut but not that scary.

No more opinions?

Just running through this in my head, I think I may have an advantage but just as likely I will have some issues. We shall see. Xi7's will be a pain but it would require some really good rolls to matter and even a bonus Accuracy wont kill me too bad. Barring a super roll, I should be fine. . . hmmmm

This hard-hitting truth.

Well according to these forums, I'm always wrong, so I'm going to vote Lyr to win.

Edit: Honest analysis though, I tend to underrate the MC80 and XI7s both so HERO's fleet doesn't come off that intimidating to me. As long as Lyr flies his MC30s well, I think he's got a good chance.
