FFG Is it true?

Recommended Posts

I don't think it was a direct order. However, the LCG model cannot go to the kinds of stores that Asmodee is looking to break into. They aren't looking at the hobby stores with this product, they are looking at the big box stores. Different audience really. And hitting different audiences is a good thing for a growing company.

Actually a recent interview from our Friends team covenant and FFG staten that they knowingly left that marketing on the blind side untill now. There is money to be made in that market and FFG states that they have strong présence in all the relevant markets ot there.... that wasn't true because they have zero présence in the tcg/ccg market and they wanted to change that

Even if it is true, what does it matter?  LCGs will never have mass appeal.  CCGs will scare off some people, but has the chance to become huge.  This is a win for far more than it isn't.

Bring on the packs!

Also of note, 3 of their competitive Organized Play products; X-Wing, Imperial Assault, and Armada, are not likely to suddenly shift over into a blind-buys booster pack system, so even if somehow the LCG's all did, it would be still unlikely the games I mentioned would also switch over.

Of course, as card game players, this wouldn't matter to you, but it is worth noting that there will still be OP support for "fixed distribution" games regardless of what they do with their card games.

Lord of the Rings and Arkham would probably stay as LCG's, Conquest is done, so it just leaves Thrones, Star Wars and Netrunner.

Battletech was definitely one of the first generation games that was "almost" there.  Richard Garfield does good ****, even if Battletech wasn't one of his hits.

Sometimes I wonder where we would be today if the first CCG ever designed had been total crap.
