Vestax159 0 Posted July 15, 2016 Afternoon, I'm new to Armada and attempting to start my first tournament fleet. I realize this may vary from region to region but can anyone provide me with examples of common expected fleets? Specifically, Rieekan fleets?
chr335 658 Posted July 15, 2016 Rieekan fleets to maxamize the benefit you want lots of named squadrons and a more aggresive ship list.
Vergilius 2,118 Posted July 15, 2016 In the words of our National Champion, "Armada is the people's game, because on any day any fleet can win." I endorse this view. Granted, there are popular fleets, but it is tough to say that you can expect to see a particular fleet at a tournament. Here are a few examples: Truthiness' Swarm of B's http://warhammertruthiness.blogspot.com/2016/06/martinsburg-wv-regionals.html Comments: He won a regional with the list. I've played variants of it myself in casual play, and can say it is a thoughful fleet. It is a good illustration of one feature that you'll see in common with a lot of other Rieekan list: Yavaris+Bombers. Rieekan ensures that Yavaris (which usually dies early in lists like this) lives to unleash utter pain upon the opponent. Bigg's Defiance Battleship list http://xwingtactics.blogspot.com/2016/05/biggs-in-pittsburgh.html Comments: He won the Pittsburgh regional with it. I used a variant of it to win the Dallas regional. You'll also see an MC80+3 Corvettes in lists with other commanders as well. The Corvettes do generous chip damage (around 3 points per attack) and the MC80 anchors the list allowing them to operate. I've seen plenty of Ackbar lists with an MC80+3 Corvettes. I've also experimented recently with both Dodonna and Garm in this set-up. You change out the upgrades to match the commander more exactly, but they all otherwise play similarly. You also never know when someone will play bumper cars with you and bring 7x SW-7 Corvettes! That's a start. You really asked a huge question! The only way to know for sure is to show up to a tournament and see what people bring!
