Blackbird888 4,110 Posted September 6, 2016 Am I the only one that sees an Anomid in the "Batman" picture? Yeah, probably. That's totally a Kel Dor; he's got the odd cranial lobe things on the side of his skull.

That's totally a Kel Dor; he's got the odd cranial lobe things on the side of his skull. I noticed that, too, and figured they were the weird Anomid ears. Also, if that's supposed to be a Kel Dor shouldn't that cranial lob connect to his mask or face for breathing purposes. Looking at Plo Koon as an example, this guy doesn't look like a "normal" Kel Dor.

Humans show considerable natural variation in ear lobes, and that's before cosmetic alteration opens up even more options. Maybe Kel Dor are like this too. 1 Absol197 reacted to this
Absol197 5,296 Posted September 30, 2016 (edited) So new article! Species are Muun, Gands, and Pantorans. Evidence for my theory that pictures species are either in the current or previous releases for that line is mounting; I just need to figure out what that pink lady is...I guess it WAS too much to ask for both Pantorans and Zeltrons in one book...one day. One day... All that said, though, I'm not TOO disappointed in the selection. It's always a bit of a bummer to see a repeated species, but it's not unexpected now and then, and Pantorans have been on my wish list for a while! I hope you're happy, Marcy, we finally got a pretty one! I will try to perform an in-depth analysis of past articles and the artwork from every book over the weekend, folks! I do it for you! ...And because my Brain forces me to, but mostly it's the "you guys" thing . Blackbird888 4,110 Posted September 30, 2016 Makes a fair amount of sense, I suppose. Pantorans get a rank in Cool. So, Sentry may be a lightsaber spec? With defensive talents? Definitely Stealth-based, it seems. Investigators have Perception and at least one Knowledge skill (probably Underworld). Weedles and Fries 170 Posted September 30, 2016 Pantorans and no Talz...*sigh* I loved in Saga when they had rules for Near-Humans. Pantorans clearly should fall under this, IMHO... I was hoping for Talz in the "Forged in Battle" (though Eloms made it up for me). I was personally hoping for Umbaran or Miraluka (outside my usual love of Pug uglies), but Muun is fine for me (though it's an odd choice in my opinion). I just cannot wait till they release Biths, though my guess is that they will be released in the Engineers sourcebook...God let them be in the Engineers sourcebook... Shlambate 2,679 Posted September 30, 2016 A link for those of us curious in the article itself but too lazy to look for it somewhere else https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2016/9/30/life-undercover/ I was hoping for Zeltrons. Well maybe they're in the Mystic book it's the only other place a Presence high race would be. 2 Jon D and Krieger22 reacted to this
HappyDaze 10,108 Posted September 30, 2016 (edited) This preview is pretty good about giving just enough info to make me want more. I am intrigued by the idea of an "underage pickpocket" as I had no idea that there was a legal age where it was acceptable to be a pickpocket. HappyDaze 10,108 Posted September 30, 2016 So Chiss are blue and get a rank of Cool and Pantorans are blue and get a rank of Cool. Absol, have you run the numbers on what skin colors of various species are more likely to produce which skills? 2 Tefmon and The Shy Ion reacted to this

Absol, have you run the numbers on what skin colors of various species are more likely to produce which skills? Mirialans are green and also get a rank of Cool. Maybe it's just that all the cool colors that get the Cool skill boost. Though Rodians fail in that. Also some Twi'lek are blue, and while they don't get Cool, they do have increased Presence, so it helps with their Coolness? 1 Tefmon reacted to this
Blackbird888 4,110 Posted October 1, 2016 I would like to point out, about the Talz, that they wouldn't really fit in with the Sentinel anyway. As was brought out in the recent Order 66 podcast for Forged in Battle, Elom and Elomin are both native to one planet, fighting against the Empire as a part of the Alliance, so it makes sense for them to be together in the Soldier book. Just because they share a star system, though, doesn't mean the Talz and the Pantorans need to be in the same book. The previews talk about how Sentinels are often in the thick of a civilization (they even have a signature ability called My City). Pantorans, we see, are an advanced society, and very widespread, with colonies and such (two adventure modules feature Pantorans as NPCs). They were a part of the Galactic Senate and likely the Imperial Senate before it's dissolution, so they are a very integrated people, well known throughout the galaxy. Talz, though, are more like the Whiphid; adaptable but not as advanced, more likely to be seen on the fringes if they even leave their home world. While a Talz could serve as a Sentinel, as any species can be anything (excepting droids), they don't fit with the themes of the book as is, and their association with the Pantorans isn't as close as the Elom/Elomin. The Muun? Yeah, makes sense, as this article brought out; The lanky, conservative Muun are best known for running the Intergalactic Banking Clan (IGBC), a massive organization that stabilizes credit everywhere credits are used. Whether because of their society’s immersion in the banking industry, or because of some innate ability, Muun are known to excel in mathematics and analysis, and therefore make an excellent species choice for PCs choosing the new Investigator specialization, which emphasizes Perception and Knowledge. Investigators are tough and street smart, but also shrewd, able to use the smallest traces of a crime to reconstruct what happened—and find the criminal. Not to mention, in Legends, Darth Plagueis was a Muun. Gand? Yeah, in a fashion. I'm curious to read their entry in this book. My first though for a Gand is Seeker, but really, if you're a Findsman, that doesn't always mean the wilderness, so Sentinel is a good backup. We see Gand bounty hunters, and that often requires hunting targets in cities, not in the wilds. Gand may be enigmatic, but they aren't out of place in a major city. Really, I wouldn't rule the Talz out entirely; they would fit pretty decently in the Warrior book. 3 Tefmon, Richardbuxton and kaosoe reacted to this

deraforia 169 Posted October 2, 2016 (edited) Not all Sentinels (or all Force-sensitives, for that matter) are driven to altruism. Those who take the Racer specialization, for example Am I the only one thinking that Racer might be the Conflict spec this time around? It certainly seems like it could provide a very different sort of talent for that. Edited October 2, 2016 by deraforia
syrath 1,316 Posted October 2, 2016 (edited) The batman spec is going to have that dark conflict so im pretty sure it is going to be Sentry, and not a pilot spec She could make a living as an aid worker and only wield a lightsaber under cover of darkness, or manage a crime syndicate that helps refugees survive by means of smuggled goods. Sounds a bit darker than the description of the racer. You never know though. Edited October 2, 2016 by syrath

Sounds a bit darker than the description of the racer. You never know though. I had missed that bit somehow. For the most part, the Sentry just sounded protective while the Racer sounded like they were meant to care less about morals at all. But, Sentry does seem more appropriate, and was what I was thinking before this preview. I'm curious either way. This book looks like it's going to be great Too bad I'm already three career books behind across the lines
