Add auxiliary firing arc on A-Wing.

Recommended Posts

I find it unlikely they didn't test this when they designed Wave 2 given the introduction of the aux arc in that wave.

Ever thought how odd it was that the Firespray has an aux arc (despite pretty much never being depicted to use it in flight prior to FFG card art) and the A-wing doesn't? Personally, I think they designed it for the A-wing, liked the mechanic but didn't like how it made the A-wing play and moved it to the Firespray.

This should be on Pash Cracken only, since otherwise theyd have to print new cards for the past pilots.

It could be Pash's ability, since we havent gotten him in the game yet.

And he was one of the best Awng pilots for the New republic later on (when Tycho started using Xwings agai,. and not sure what Farrell was doing at the time, likely retirement though.

Firing backwards from Awings was very rare since it supposedly required huge amounts of skill, since the targetting computer wasnt very good when it came to firing bacwards. Not to mention they also required modifying the Awings cannons to be able to traverse more than just the 60 degrees that they are regularly made.

S

o again one or 2 specific pilots maximum should have this...and really only 1 comes to mind. Since if they released another Awing pack it would probably only have 2 named pilots- and Pash Cracken would fit the bill, along with Poe's mom- Shara Bey- with her ARC-170 ability but in the Awing (so she wouldnt have this aux arc).

This Again?

This has to be the 5th time in the last month someone has asked for this based on the wookiepaedia article. That 360 degree cannon note only comes from an obscure tech manual, not any actual story media. Lets see it in some canon before asking about it again. How about A-wings and X-wings getting Barrel-roll before this non-sense about rear arcs?

It's coming in the ARC170 pack. you'll just be missing out on autothrusters.

Hopefully a title to T-65 gives another modification slot that is free to upgrade. Works like Tie Advance.

i mean, you're getting a slightly worse b-wing

free shield upgrade gets you some good efficiency though, not counting the financial inefficiency of having to buy freaking imperial aces

Rotating A-Wing lasers .. I'd welcome them as much as that hideous B-Wing Star Destroyer one shot killing laser thing we saw in Rebels, or a Wave 10 Suncrusher, or Palpatine's 3 eyed son crew, or Jaxxon the Jedi Rabbit crew card, Mount Sorrow, etc. Some things should be left to obscurity.

A-Wings are fine, they have a place, they see the table top and they serve a purpose. As my pappy always said "If it ain't broke .."

well, cruiser killing laser

light cruisers at that

those ships were way too small to be star destroyers and no amount of plot power is cutting through one of those

Season One Rebels might have something to say about that.

*ahem unshielded and unguarded reactor core ahem*

Mechanically speaking (and gameplay balance-wise) if an A-wing rear arc were defined as straight back (along the sides of the base) rather than as a wedge, it could be offered for less cost (in terms of points, as it is more situational) and less production cost as there is no need for a printed arc.

Or, they could always release a new ship whose pilot token has a narrower than 90° Arc....  if they could maybe produce some super low cost (10pts?) swarm ships using that mechanic but with a Max4 Tournament limitation.

Naw, just make it a unique pilot who's clearly modified his A-wing to suit.

That way it's an A-wing, honest - albeit one with a neat little rear arc, and without messing with all the /other/ ones out there.

Make him low PS, and he'd be a blocker that gets decent odds of having enemy craft in his arc while he does his day job :D

While we're at it, didn't A-wings have Sensor Jammers? When Rebel Aces was announced I was so hopeful A-wings would get a System slot: Advanced Sensors Arvel Crynyd!

EDIT: I acknowledge that this one has come up DOZENS of times before. Sorry.

It shows up in one of the Wraith Squadron books, which even if it's EU should count for story material.

It comes from other EU stff too I beleive, but you are right about it being ina Wraith Squadron novel.

Or you know make him a decently high ps pilot, since it reuqres skill to do it...a 6 or 7 would be good (preferably a 7)....and again Pash Cracken makes sense for this. And yes it should be a single pilot's ability doing it, so we dont have to get new cardboard tokens.

Rather than an aux arc, id rather it take an action to reverse the cardboard on the base.

Either simple aux arc it for one pilot, or simply aux arc it with the shifting fire arcs...none of this stupid flipping the token around is needed, especially if FFG were to do it smartly and make it a singe pilot's ability for reasons I said above in a prior reply post.

It shows up in "Wraith Squadron," the X-wing novel that introduces that squadron, in the final battle against ISD Implacable. Admiral Trigit is escaping in a modified, hyperdrive and shield equipped TIE Interceptor along with ttwo likewise equipped wingmen. General Crespin, in an A-wing, uses rotating lasers to pick of one of the wingmen while firing his concussion missiles to eliminate the other. Meanwhile, Myn Donos, oncoming in an X-wing and out for vengence because Trigit ran a mission that wiped out his former squadron, fires his proton torpedoes to take out Trigit while the fleeing Admiral is blinded by his rapidly evaporating wingmen. Donos anticipates the scenario after imagining what he would do while if he were in an A-wing with lasers that can traverse.

Just wanted to throw out the source material. Also, General Crespin would be a great A-wing pilot for this mod to show up as a unique pilot ability since we see him making use of them. He was leading Polerarm Squadron, formerly Blue Squadron while they were in training and yet to formalize a squadron title. Pash Cracken would also be an excellent choice since he's a famed A-wing pilot we don't have yet. Perhaps: Pash Cracken (PS8), General Edor Crespin (PS7) and Polerarm Squadron Pilot (PS4). There were also a few other Polerarm pilots mentioned by name, Dorset Konnair and Tetengo Noor. They're named earlier in the book when two Polerarm A-wings and two Wraith Squadron X-wings, piloted by Kell Tainer and Runt, race through a trench to provide recon on an advancing Imperial force. Noor is seen again in the series, in "Solo Command," and killed when a nearby Imperial ship explodes, enveloping his fleeing A-wing. Later Todra Mayn is named Captain of Polerarm Squadron and is seen several times at squadron briefings alongside Wedge.

Below is a link to a form thread I had awhile back trying to come up with new A-wing pilots based on Polerarm Squadron. All the pilots mentioned above are in it as custom cards.
https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/110576-r22s-custom-cards-a-wings-of-polearm-squadron/

(I'm giving Polerarm PS4 since Red Squadron X-wings are PS4 and I'm *still* hoping we get a Rogue Squadron Pilot for the X-wing, probably at PS5.)
