Warpman 2,115 Posted July 4, 2016 I view it as bringing it into line with the rest of the rules. Previously spending focus and evade tokens was the only thing in the game you could trigger multiple times per opportunity, which just doesn't seem right. Console Fire, multiple times, just for one example. There is not actually a once-per-opportunity rule, as far as I'm aware. It's a rationale offered. It doesn't apply to quite a bit of stuff. (For instance, if it applied to Tactician, it would not have needed nerfing to Limited.) I believe this this the "once per opportunity" rule. It is specific to card abilities so it would not cover things like the spending of focus, evade, or target lock tokens to perform their default modifications: Noteworthy is that Once per opportunity is a rule that's used with single card of a type in a single timing window and isn't applicable to multiples of the same non-action cards, or effects that aren't card-written. Tokens aren't Card effects, so spending multiple tokens of a type isn't such a problem. RAGING FARLANDER is suddenly an exception himself due to his stress-eating mechanic being a card(pilot) effect. Slugrage 5,011 Posted July 4, 2016 I knew a guy who came up with a list right before this came out who was very proud of a Chewbacca, Lone Wolf, Lando, C3PO, title, EI which could produce a demoralizing quantity of evades on the regular. I came up against something like this at a recent Regionals. It made it very nearly impossible to land a hit on the YT1300.
ccjazz38 1 Posted July 6, 2016 (edited) I really wish that this rule did not include the spending of evade tokens. It is hard enough to get an evade token in the first place and usually an even more rarity to get multiple ones. They (evades) are one time uses...only in defending...I see (because of FAQ "I saw") no over powering of using multiple evades in one attack. Hell..that I know of..only the the ships that had 1 agility had the chance to get multiple evades anyway, and those ships that has the chance of getting multiple evades are the large ships. They were already cut down to size with the half point rule...even though there are small ships that have just as much life (hull + shields) if not more than the large ships. I feel any ship above 6 life should be worth half points.... but that is another subject. Maybe one day a modification upgrade card will be made to spend multiple evades when defending. I pray at least that happens. I know I'm talking wishful thoughts and the rules are what they are, but they should have left spending evades an exception to the new spending rules. This ruling nerfs the large ships once again. Large ships are more expensive to bring to the table...with just as much life as some small ships...now with the new ruling your opponent is almost guaranteed to get half points (if not guaranteed to get full points)...with every FAQ more small list are being made...getting to the point where if the large ship does not have at least 2 evades (which are not many)... you won't see a large ship in top tournament play. Bringing large ships to the table especially with this new ruling, is almost laughable because half your list was spent on something that won't last. Anyone agree? Parravon 5,217 Posted July 6, 2016 So you're saying the current meta is basically everything in the game so far? 3 ccjazz38, SaszaPL and DR4CO reacted to this
Warpman 2,115 Posted July 7, 2016 So you're saying the current meta is basically everything in the game so far? Nope, many many things went almost extinct, notably the TLT-limit or 4-joust lists.
