Forgot commando had feral strength, however I dont think too many more feral strength talents will be dropped due to the stacking, other dmg talents are held in check by the destiny point requiremnet usually meaning you cant use two of then. I did miss one talent, deadly accuracy is perhaps the best dmg boost talent in the game and it doesnt come with cost. It is restricted to one attack, thereby stopping (further?) Autofire abuse.

Actually was looking at making Vapaad a force power, due it's Legends canonical description as a "state of mind" (Shatterpoint,  by Mathew Stover) rather than a strict saber form. Overwhelming your opponent with strikes and relishing a fight, while maintaining your ability to cease hostilities, doesn't seem to mechanically lend itself to a single weapon in the first place. If it does happen to get it's own spec, I think Battlemaster seems like a good start for names. Maybe Slayer, or Killer. Not sure.

I think a lot of he maurauder talents will stay in maurauder because of how they stack, frenzied attack yes, feral strength no. Maurauder has the one and only unconditional damage increase in the game, other talents are reliant on destiny points for example

Barrage, Deadly Accuracy, and Point Blank don't require Destiny points.

Vapaad was never made out to be a Force ability. Yes it's a state of mind but state of mind is a common aspect when it comes to combat training. It fits better as a sabre form or rather as a talent because at it's root Vapaad is a method of fighting. The best way to represent methods of fighting in this system is to either create a talent tree or a single talent. Considering how little it was used and how recent it was created an entire career dedicated to Vapaad is unlikely. But it is the perfect kind of thing that works as a talent that represents the way a character fights. 

 

But overall .... pretty much all the lightsabre forms are a state of mind. When Shatterpoint goes into detail about the state of mind stuff it is going into detail about how different the state of mind a vapaad user is in compared to other lightsabre fighting forms. It's not talking about a power, but a method.

Any ideas on what Vapaad would look like as a Talent? Obviously in the Juyo tree, but thoughts on what it would do?

I'm thinking something along the lines of a retaliatory attack triggered by an opponents use of the Dark Side. It's a bit complex though, so I'm not sure.

Otherwise A talent that draws on the Suppress Force Power in a very focused way such as "add Force Dice to your next Lightsaber attack, spend Force Pips to reduce the number of Dark Side Force Pips available to the next person to target you with a force power (or add Threat to the next Force Power that targets you)" something like that could even be a Conflict Talent.

I don't think it would trigger off the use of Dark side stuff as Mace was able to use the form whenever he wanted. It's just that it pushes him close to the Dark side, an aspect that can be represented in it being a Conflict gaining talent. Instead I think we'll get some nice fluff about the aggressiveness of the form and then the talent will be some kind of damage increasing ability.

I called out deadly accuracy on my last post , point blank and barrage are still situational.Feral strength is the only talent in the game where it applies a dmg bonus on every hit you make with brawl ans melee skill. Even deadly accuracy is only one hit. per attack, so cannot be used to apply to all autofire and dual wield hits.

Wouldn't the "Shatterpoint" be a force ability, rather than Vaapaad?

 

Shatterpoint wasn't a part of the Vapaad fighting style and we also already have that as an upgrade ability of the Seek power.

Oh, I know it wasn't. Only Mace Windu could do it. But if you are going to do a force power related to him, you'd propably go for Shatterpoint, rather than Vaapaad.

I might agree with Barrage being situational because of the range issues, but in practice, Point Blank applies to pretty much every Ranged (Light) attack.

Its still limited, and has perhaps 2 more instances than feral strength. My point was that feral strength is the only talent where the damage is applied to EVERY hit.

You modify Ataru  Replace all Parry Talents with Unpredictable Assault talents. Replace Improved Parry with Swift Flank. Replace all Reflect talents with Assured Strike talents  Replace Hawkbat Swoop with Vornskyr's Ferocity. Replace Balance with Feed on Anger.Replace Ataru Technique with Juyo Technique

 

Juyo Talents:

 

Juyo Technique

Use Cunning for light saber skill rolls instead of Brawn.

 

Assured Strike

For every rank in Assured Strike you can reduce the damage of your lightsaber by 2 to gain 1 automatic success on the attack roll.

 

Vornskyr's Ferocity (Conflict Talent)

When making a Cunning light saber attack you can add your force rating to the attack roll for every 2 dark side pips you roll you may make an additional attack against an opponent engaged with you. If you roll all light side pips you may spend 3 light side pips to gain an additional attack.

 

Unpredictable Assault

After making a sucessful attack you may spend 3 strain to negate 2 damage reduction plus 1 per rank in Unpredictable assault.

 

Swift Flank

On an opponents failed attack roll for every 2 threat or 1 despair you may immediately take an incidental maneuver to move in to engage the opponent at a maximum range of medium.

 

Feed on Anger (Conflict Talent)

Once per Encounter you may spend 1 destiny point to take a Feed on Anger action. Until the end of your next turn you recover 1 strain per point of conflict earned by anyone within engaged range.

 

 

For Vapaad:

Replace Feed on Anger with Tempered Agression. Replace Vornskyr's Ferocity with Feast of the Vornskyr. Replace Juyo Technique with Vapaad Technique.

 

Vapaad Technique

When making a lightsaber roll you may replace Brawn with Willpower.

 

Tempered Agression

In combat when gaining conflict from flipping force pips as an incidental you may spend 2 strain and make a hard discipline check to reduce the conflict gained by 1 point per rank in Tempered Agression.

 

Feast of the Vornskyr (Conflict Talent)

When making a Willpower light saber attack you can add your target's force rating to the attack roll for every 3 dark side pips you roll you may make an additional attack against an opponent engaged with you. If you roll all light side pips you may spend 2 light side pips for each additional attack.
