Character Creation process questions

Recommended Posts

The creation of a character is simple but my players give me some really interesting question that need to be anwsered for me:

1. About wealth - then You are poor or broke - do You still get the eqipment for Your Carrer card? My anwser was no - for example if you are a broke Waywatcher You don't get a longbow for start. I'm right?

2. Does the player choose the first talent and action cards or are they drawn when creating a character? I let them choos but After that I though it would be better and faster if they would draw them.

3. What are the starting action card for a wizzard and priest? I let my wizzard to have for free : Chanel power and cantrip. Everything else he had to buy for point.

1. The typical trappings on the charactersheet are just what your typical NPC would have - the players only start with the equipment and money mentioned under wealth.

2. Players choose talents and actions themselves - otherwise they'd risk getting stuff that's useless to them.

3. Initiates and Apprentice Wizards start with all the cards marked "basic" (4 cards each I think).

3) The Apprentice Wizard and the Intitiate follow different rules.

Apprentice Wizard begin the game with the Channeling and Spellcraft advanced skills already acquired. (p42 Tome of Mysteries, for those who want a reference). They also get all the "Basic " action cards, which for an apprentice wizard include: Cantrip, Channel Power, Counterspell, and Magic Dart.

The Initiate DO NOT gain any advanced skills for free, so if he/she wants to acquire the Invocation and Piety skills, they have to buy them. They do however get all the "Basic" action cards, which for an initiate include: Blessing of Health, Curry Favour, Minor Blessing, and Minor Ward, but they probably wont be of much use unless they spend som creation points to get Invocation (needed for Blessing of Health and Minor Ward) and/or Piety (needed for Curry Favour).
