B-Wings revisited

Recommended Posts

These are two squad I had fun playing last weekend.

My favorite was Ten Numb with 2 Greens.

・Ten Numb + Advanced Sensors + “Mangler” Cannon + Ion Torpedoes + Extra Munitions + Adaptability + Guidance Chips

・Green Squadron Pilot + A-Wing Test Pilot + Proton Rockets + Juke + Guidance Chips + Push the Limit

・Green Squadron Pilot + A-Wing Test Pilot + Proton Rockets + Juke + Guidance Chips + Push the Limit

The other one was Keyan with Chewee

・Keyan Farlander + Advanced Sensors + Advanced Proton Torpedoes + Extra Munitions + Stay on Target + B-Wing/E2 + "Zeb" Orrelios

・Chewbacca + Push the Limit + C-3PO+ Kanan Jarrus+ Millennium Falcon (Evade) + Engine Upgrade

Keyan with Zeb crew was awesome fun so next weekend I am planing to try this one too:

Keyan Farlander
Advanced Sensors
Intimidation
B-Wing/E2
"Zeb" Orrelios

Ibtisam
Advanced Sensors
Stay on Target
B-Wing/E2
Ezra Bridger

Jake Farrell A-Wing
A-Wing Test Pilot
Chardaan Refit
Juke
Push the Limit

What other B-Wing squads have people fun playing lately and spit on meta's face! :P

I like your Keyan builds, gonna have to try them! I've used this one with various buddies:

Keyan - advanced sensors, b wing e2, Jan Ors, advanced proton torts, extra munitions, push the limit

It's crazy expensive, but fun to use. The evade really helps against keep him in there long enough to make sure you can use the Torps.

Interesting, but why not just swap Jan with C3-PO. Does the same thing and you can keep your focus.

What was the rest of your squad, something else interacting with Jan?

Another B-Wing with Recon specialist crew may I assume? :D

You know, I like the idea of using c3-po; I don't own the card so I don't usually think to use him. But yes, you can pull some crazy evade token stacking with Jan. My favorite is using keyan with psycho tycho. You can in theory stack 3 evades on the dude, although I've found 2 evades plus a focus is usually better. Other times I'll use Keyan with a pair of x wings and I really like being able to use evade on them sometimes, stuff like that.

Why Keyan here? I don't see how you will use the stress mechanic that makes him so interesting. Or is it just in case you use a red move?

Because he is my favorite B-Wing. :)

I just want to see how well the Zeb-Intimidation combo works. Its not like the B-Wing dial lacks red maneuvers anyway.

As you see in the other squads, I usually fly him with stay on target or opportunist.

Actually, I placed second in a tournament recently with this squad.

Not sure why this didn't occur to me when they dropped but Ten Numb and GC?  You sir, are genius.

I completely agree with the sentiment.  GC on him turns one attack with Ion Pulse to a Crit.  It auto goes through.  No matter who you shoot at, they are Ionized!

You know, you put Veteran Instinct on him and he's PS 10.  That's fantastic.  You would be able to Ionize Soontir Fel as long as you can get him in arc, which shouldn't be too horrible going at PS 10.

If you are able to Ionize anyone, you can probably set them up for bumpage the next turn and lay into them.  Just imagine Soontir Fel getting no actions and being taken down so easy.  Then again, you just Ionize him and his range of where he will be next turn is pretty low.  Ten Numb can just fire another Ion at him and get another damage auto hits.  That puts Soontir Fel at 1 hull point and you know where he's going to be.  Makes it pretty easy for that Mangler Cannon.  Man....you can kill Soontir Fel in 3 turns alone!

Pair with nera + deadeye + recon specialist.

Ten Numb + Guidance Chips + Torpedoes is a nice trick. The Mangler Cannon is nice, but a B-wing can generally get focus-fired down in two turns of combat anyway - you'll get more bang for your buck lobbing a pair of torpedoes than a pair of mangler cannon shots.

Another nasty trick is plasma torps - your absolute worst performance is two shields off a shielded ship, or a crit on an unshielded one (plus stealth device lost if it's got one). It's not much less capable against TIE interceptors, advanced or advanced prototypes, but it's still a 4-die + plasma effect shot, making it much more effective against big guys like a Jumpmaster - something Mangler Cannon Ten Numb struggles against.

Nera Dantels is always going to be good as a second. Either use her as a torpedo turret with guidance chips, or as a stress turret with accuracy corrector, munitions failsafe and flechettes (expensive and fiddly but catches a lot of people by surprise!).

I'm not sure how to make best use of Ibitsam. Stay On Target seems a waste - her pilot skill isn't high enough. I'd suggest a nice option might be B-wing/E & Hera - stress her (a fast straight will do it fine) and just keep the stress with it's built-in rerolls. Wired might be a nice cheap bolt-on. That gives you the ability to reroll 1 blank plus unlimited focus results, every time you attack or defend, and still use your full dial. Not bad for not many points. Not sure about systems for her; Fire Control is a waste, she won't get any actions so no advanced sensors. Sensor Jammer might be good. It's a shame reinforced deflectors is large ship only, really.

OK....I don't get this.  You say the Mangler Cannon is nice, but a B-wing can get focus fired down.  So, instead of spending 4 pts on a Mangler Cannon that works at all ranges and doesn't require a TL, you want to spend the same amount of points on a one shot Proton Torpedo?  Oh, and use up the Guidance Chip slot, too?

If Ten Numb could let all Critical Hits through in a turn, I could see it.  If he can only allow one, then how and why is a Proton Torpedo better than a Mangler Cannon?  With the Mangler Cannon, he could use a Barrel Roll to get better position and doesn't have to do a TL.  Why is the Proton Torp better?

I think Ion Torpedo is excellent for the ionization that will auto go through.  That...and the critical hit that stays a critical hit.
