501st training

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

At first when I saw the 501st training I thought it was awesome because you could use one action to attack then then tap the card to attack again and get 2 movement points.

Then it was pointed to me in the rules that figures using a deployment card that you can only do 1 attack no matter what unless it  says otherwise on the card like on Vaders Brutality action.

This leads to 2 questions

1. are we reading the rules right were even with this attachment you still only get 1 attack with the storm troopers?

2.  If that is the case does that really negate this card and not making as useful?  Thoughts?

Yes, the special action in 501st Training is an action that performs an attack, so you can't spend the other action for anything that performs an attack. The benefit is the 2 movement points. And if you don't have sources for focus, the second double-action action is pretty powerful if you can deploy further away from the rebels. (Focus and Squad Training is a great combination.)

Note: you don't need to exhaust the card, so the actions are available for all figures in the group at all times.

I think 501st training combos well with some agenda or class cards though, like Sustained Fire.

Also, the arrow symbol on the card doesn't mean you tap (or, in the terminology of this game, "exhaust") the card, it just means that it's a special action, so you need to spend an action to use it and it can only be used once per figure per round. So you can use the effects on multiple figures in the group each round.

It's actually really good on Heavy Troopers which are really slow and need the movement boost. It's nice with them to be able to move forward to shoot and then move back to take advantage of their armor ability.
