WHat is considered a good bonded animal companion for the Pathfinder/Hermit?

Recommended Posts

Some Silhouette 1 Beasts that could be fun, have their own flavour, giving more character to them, they are interesting:

Sand Panther, Rival (SoF p 19)

Wrix, Nemesis, probably good for a character following the Dark path of the Force (SoF p20) (Linked since theres no pic in SoF)

Flame Ibbot,  Minion :( but spits bile :)  (SoF p28)

Ice Wolf Den Mother (Nemesis) from the Lure of the Lost pdf is another good one, although it probably should have some ranks in Resilience or some bonus to surviving in cold weather. Its a little less brutal than the Sludge Panther too.

Thank you - these are all great suggestions.

I'm sure we'll go with a kitty or puppy - um, a feline or canine.  Someone walks into a cantina with a wolf or big cat, they're making a statement: 'Back off or Fluffy here will fang you.'

Trying to get into a cantina with an Acklay or Rancor or Krayt Dragon will just empty the place in seconds and someone will call the pest exterminators.

Ooh, I don't believe I'd seen a Manka Cat before. A sabretooth would be ideal, I think.  What book is that one in?

As Absol mentioned, it's in Savage Spirits ;)

Those creatures haven't hit the online index yet.

Certain old stuff would have you believe vornskrs are a good choice, even though they are known to attack Force-users. If you can condition one to accept you, then it might be a nice choice, assuming you (the character, in-game) know what a vornskr even is.

I believe Thrawn's method was to cut off their tails.  That made them domestic if not docile, but they could still sense Force users IIRC.

I'm just picturing the man behind the bar in Mos Eisley - "We don't serve their kind here!  Your [animals]!  They'll have to wait outside!"

Our Pathfinder has a Tusk Cat she rescued from an abandoned zoo on Nar Shadda.

They've been domesticated long enough to not draw attention but they're pretty tough in combat and aren't too big.

My character that is halfway through Hermit and will be Force 4 soon will need to figure out what kind of companion he will get.  I have a little more time before I decide probably a couple of months since our xp is slow.
