JimbonX 214 Posted May 23, 2016 X-Wing is a expensive game. Yes I know it cost less then Warhammer but still, no everyone can't afford to buy a lot of modeles, like you. Micromachine. Known for ages for toys you wanted to buy as a little kid but didn't have the money. Micromachines has a lot of Star Wars minifigures. From X-Wing to Tie Advance. Believe it or not - they fit with X-wing miniature game. Sadly you have to glue or gum them. But still, the option is there. Also the price for 4 models is the same as 1 X-wing miniature expansion. They look more cheap but are harder to break. Made by same material as a rubber. Also, question to FFG. Okay to use Micromachine Star Wars models in tournament? I mean, it's Star Wars so... Ubul 887 Posted May 23, 2016 (edited) Nope. You have to use original X-wing components: Players may use only official Star Wars: X-Wing™ Miniatures Game components in tournament play. UnfairBanana 2,251 Posted May 23, 2016 No. In tournament settings, proxies like this (or printed cards) are not allowed.
Red Castle 3,875 Posted May 23, 2016 Can't proxy during tournaments, but even if you could, if you don't have the miniature, odds are you won't have a dial either, and those are trickier to proxy. 5 nathankc, Tenka, Odanan and 2 others reacted to this
Ubul 887 Posted May 23, 2016 Also, I don't get why you want to proxy the ships. The ships themselves are not expensive, you can build your squads with 2-4 of them. The expensive part of a competitive squad is usually the upgrade cards. 2 knavelead and Archangelspiv reacted to this
StevenO 2,996 Posted May 23, 2016 Do you get to Proxy all the cards and stuff you want as well? If you can then I see no reason to disallow proxying the model as well but the official answer is not proxies of any kind allowed.

killerbeardhawk 457 Posted May 24, 2016 Totally allowed, but you will need dial, ship token, and cards still.
UnfairBanana 2,251 Posted May 24, 2016 Totally allowed, but you will need dial, ship token, and cards still. No, quite the opposite. The rules specifically state you cannot use anything but official ships. Joe Boss Red Seven 11,293 Posted May 24, 2016 You have to be all grown up and have the money to buy the game to play in a tournament based on the game. 9 Beard, BlackSunSyn, Darkcloak and 6 others reacted to this
FlyingAnchors 4,600 Posted May 24, 2016 Why would you even bother with micro machines in a tournament? How expensive is this game to you? What you put into it. The $6 you put towards the micromachines you'll need put at least a 3rd of the way towards the ship you want, some places that put's you half towards a ship. If you already have the cards (for say like TIE fighters) there are stores on ebay that would happily sell you just the ships for around $10, some less. The end result, no matter how you slice it, is that you have to manage your money so that you end up with enough money for X-wing if that's what you want to spend your money on. 2 HamsterExAstris and catachanninja reacted to this

If you did buy the game correctly... you would still need to rob a bank to afford the **** hotel and or sleep in a car (if you have a car) and you'll still need $20 to eat McCrappalds so you know... to avoid die'ing or passing out while you compete with the world's best X-Wingers (who are well fed, have a nice hotel room, and have all of the correct items PLUS) ... good luck wit all dat! 2 Vitalis and HamsterExAstris reacted to this

I tried that once.... I didn't have to rob the bank, but then again I didn't make the top cut so I didn't have to stay until who knows how long in the morning and then try to either drive home or find a place to sleep. I couldn't care less for Micro machines in casual, they've got some really cool models, and allot of awesome people on the forums have made some really neat cards for them,(Republic vs CIS to name an example) but at a tournament.... It's like proxying Magic cards for an official event. "Why bother running what cards I actually have when...." 2 Joe Boss Red Seven and Punning Pundit reacted to this
Marinealver 8,073 Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) I guess now I know why FFG hasn't released the colored bases yet. Imagine all the proxying that can be done with them. So the red ones are X-wings, the blue ones are B-wings, the orange ones are Y-wings for Gold Squadron. The Green ones are A-wings even though none of the A-wings in green squadron were ever painted green. Tokyogriz 697 Posted May 24, 2016 Why would you bring a fake to a officially sanctioned company event? Good grief man. Play with whatever you want at your OWN house but at tournaments yes you actually need to buy or borrow the model to play it. Lol your questions so laughable I must assume your trolling I guess. charlesanakin 399 Posted May 24, 2016 The "official" stance is no. I've done it, and seen others do it on a local store tournament level. Store championships, Regionals and above you are very unlikely to get away with it. I have heard stories of players loaning their personal ships/cards to someone who forgot one, lost it or had it stolen. Store tournament down to casual don't even worry about it. Hujoe Bigs 2,071 Posted May 24, 2016 Depends on the venue... I've been using the Micro Machine version of Black One for months (as well as WotC truer scale A-wings) FFGs scales is "truer" scale. It pasted LFL and unlike most wikis, FFG actually goes to the source for their info. So while you deem it more appropriate to your liking, it is not "truer". 5 VanorDM, Ken at Sunrise, Punning Pundit and 2 others reacted to this
