Edheliad 145 Posted May 21, 2016 Silvan is all about allies but has less ally cards available than Noldor at the moment. It's in a strange position where it feels really powerful (with Galadriel & Celeborn running it) but there's so little choice involved in making the deck that it's not particularly satisfying to play. Crying out for a Mirkwood twist on the Lothlorien formula, for variety and options in construction/strategy. 3 banania, Network57 and Valdemart reacted to this
Calvadur 165 Posted May 21, 2016 Following the trend the next deluxe should focus on one of the major trait of the game. We had the Dwarf one, Gondor, Rohan, Dunedain and Noldor ones. Silvan and Hobbit should get their own deluxe. One could argue, that "The Black Riders" was the Hobbit Expansion. Do we already know the hero for the last AP? Usually they put important characters in there (Dain, Elrond, Theoden, Erkenbrand, Arwen), who, in most cases, foreshadow the theme of the nex cycle (not true for Elrond and Erkenbrand). Thranduil could fit into the last AP perfectly, as I agree that Silvans could strongly benefit from a Deluxe centered aroud them and the North-east of middle-earth wasn't really explored yet. 1 Valdemart reacted to this
Gizlivadi 1,089 Posted May 21, 2016 (edited) I really wonder about how they could make a Thranduil hero and a parallel version of the Lórien strategy for Mirkwood. I'd really love to see it as Silvan is one of my favorite traits, but I don't know how they could replace Celeborn to be honest. Granted, he doesn't have to replace Celeborn. Thranduil could be Lore, since Haldir is way more replaceable in a Silvan deck than Celeborn, as there are many powerful Silvan decks with Gríma, Elrond, etc, while Celeborn is in all of them. If Thranduil is Lore, that'd mean he would have to be in the next deluxe. Spirit and Tactics are also an option for Thranduil, but again, in solo it's hard not to include Galadriel, and if he was Tactics he'd have to provide some serious action advantage and willpower, or he will be completely unplayable in solo. That's why I think Thranduil hero will just vaguely work with Silvan and work mainly as a general purpose all around good hero, just like new Denethor. Check hall of beorn. But yeah, I agree with you.

Galadriel's ability allows allies to not exhaust to commit to a quest on the turn they're played. Perhaps an attack/defend version of that. Or something that adds Ranged/Sentinel keywords for a turn. I'll never use Marksman of Lorien because the art is clearly a marksman of Mirkwood. Also because my Silvan deck doesn't use Tactics
FetaCheese 194 Posted May 21, 2016 That courier is nice though, and the location attachment is great.
wehehe 39 Posted May 23, 2016 (edited) I think that a nice mechanic for the Mirkwood Sylvans would be reactions "after x participates in an attack that destroys an enemy". That is what both versions of Legolas do, and it would differentiate them from Lórien's sylvans. Also, thematically, Mirkwood elves are in constant tension because of the increasing shadows of Mirkwood, so this could represent their fight against the the Shadow. RegisF 7 Posted May 23, 2016 I'll gladely enjoy an errata extension than an other WTF pod. A little package of cards printed with the exact wording. And, a more fluff Imrahill hero, cause the leadership isn't much anymore.
Mndela 422 Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) Neutral Event, cost: 12 Response: After the refresh phase begins, exhaust 12 Mirkwood characters you control to win the game. I would add: Forced: before winning shuffle the encounter deck and say a type, then discard the top card of the encounter deck, if the type of that card doesn't match the type you said, remove those 12 mirkwood characters from the game. You still haven't won the game ^^ Edited May 24, 2016 by Mndela
