Trying Mindlink out

So I have been contemplating the use of the Mindlink EPT. This is what I came up with.

Tansarii: Mindlink, Title, Mangler

Tansarii: Mindlink, Title, Mangler

IG88 B: HLC, Mindlink, FCS, AutoThrusters, ThermoDet, Traktor Beam

I played it 3 times today and got 3 Wins. Basically you do your M3's taking an Evade. Then you move IG and Take a focus. Giving all 3 ships a focus. If the M3's are out of combat then one of them can take a focus to help IG out. With his FCS he doesn't need to target lock so he can take an evade as well. It worked out pretty good.

So what do you think?

I like it personally, but I'm pretty sure others are going to talk about better focus generators, like Guri and Palob. I think it's part of the challenge deciding which ship generates the focus. I think that also can shift your opponents target, and when that happens, you can capitalize.

I'm a more aggressive player, and I like slinging a lot of dice. That being said, I'd drop Tractor, thermals, and AT and add HLCs to the Scyks as well. Now you're slinging 12 dice a turn, and as long as you focus your target, that's enough to 2 turn any ship in the game (provided they don't have insane green dice or you have dismal red dice). If you keep your Scyks at range, split them up (extremely important, try to keep everyone focused on the same target, but from different angles), and use whoever looks to be out of arc as the focus generator that turn while the others take evades.

Overall, I like the list, and would love to see how it plays.

I guess there could be better builds. But I feel this is a pretty solid build for Mindlink. I do agree the bomb us not that important. I didn't use it in the 3 games I played. He lost his ships pretty fast I didn't need it. But maybe against a swarm of some sort it could be very good.

I am not sure I would like to get rid of the AT they helped out so much against Dash. The Traktor Beam was just because I had a point.

Yes autothrusters are essential!  Never drop them for anything!  They are just that good.  IG88 can very easily beat dash thanks to them, and has a much easier time against any other turret (not to mention, IG pretty much always engages at R3 multiple times per match regardless of the type of enemy ships!)

 

I have had good success with HLC Tansarri Vets though.  But they are too expensive to run alongside an IG88.

 

Palob works quite well with them, however:

I tend to fly them close at first and then have Palob split off to act as bait.  With the cloaking device + boost, its pure folly for your opponent to go after him first since he can scoot an incredible distance if needed.  Meanwhile the TPVs can either open up with TL + focus shots if the enemy chases Palob, or sit on evade + focus if the enemy ignores Palob.  Oh, one thing: because of mindlink, you want to split up your Scyks a bit and approach from different angles.  This is important so that you never need to k-turn both of them at the same time (impossible with mindlink!)
